Narrative
WX AND FLT BRIEFING FROM DUATS; AND WEB BASED SOURCES WERE CHKED. AFTER LIFTOFF; I CONTACTED TWR; FOR TRANSITION SBOUND OVER I-15 CORRIDOR AT 5500 FT MSL (1000 FT AGL); WHICH WAS GRANTED. EXITING THE OGD AIRSPACE; I DID NOT HEAR A 'HDOF;' AND THERE WAS A LARGE MIL FREIGHTER APCHING OVERHEAD. I CHANGED TO HILL FIELD AFB FREQ AT THE USUALLY APPOINTED CHKPOINT; CHKED IN; AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO CONTINUE. ZLC PICKED ME UP ON THE S EDGE OF HILL AFB AND I TRANSITIONED THROUGH TO THE S EDGE OF SLC CLASS B AIRSPACE; WHERE I WAS ADVISED TO CHANGE TO ADVISORY AND CONTINUE OWN GUIDANCE VFR. I THEN PICKED UP CLASS D PVU TWR; ASKED FOR AND RECEIVED A VFR TRANSITION TO U77; WITH REQUEST TO INFORM U77 IN SIGHT. THERE WAS NO OTHER TFC IN THE AREA. U77 IS 4 NM S; JUST ON THE EDGE OF PVU CTLED CLASS D AIRSPACE. THIS WAS ABOUT XA10; BECAUSE I ASKED THE TWR HOW LONG THEY WOULD BE OPEN; AND THE REPLY WAS XB00. I ADVISED PVU TWR OF CHANGING TO U77 CTAF; CLICKED THE U77 CTAF FOR THE LIGHTS; GLANCED DOWN 3-4 SECONDS TO ADJUST MANIFOLD PRESSURE; RPM; GEAR AND CHK LIGHTS; FLAPS AND QUICK PRE-LNDG CHK. WHEN I LOOKED UP; I SAW LIGHTS OF THE RWY; SET UP A 45 DEG ENTRY INTO L DOWNWIND PATTERN; MAKING ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THE CTAF. FLARING FOR LNDG; IN SURPRISE; THE RWY NUMBERS SHOWED '13' RATHER THAN THE EXPECTED '12!' TOO LATE FOR A GAR; I LANDED AND SWITCHED TO PVU TWR TO ANNOUNCE LNDG ON THE WRONG ARPT. THEY WERE JUST EXPLAINING TO ONE OTHER LNDG ACFT THERE WAS AN UNIDENTED ACFT ON RWY 13; UNKNOWN INTENTIONS. I IDENTED MYSELF; AND TOOK THE FIRST L TXWY; AND BACK TO THE TKOF END OF RWY 13. THE CTLR SEEMED VERY KIND TO MY APOLOGIZES; AND SAID HE HAD DONE SUCH A THING HIMSELF; NOT TO WORRY. CLRED TO TAKE OFF; I MADE THE 4 NM HOP FROM PVU RWY 13 TO U77 RWY 12; IN ABOUT 70 SECONDS. EMBARRASSED; BUT SAFE.
