SD APCH MENTIONED THAT A HAZE LAYER WAS COMING IN; AND THE ACFT AHEAD OF ME HAD DIFFICULTY LOCATING MONTGOMERY FIELD; AND WOULD I LIKE HIM TO GIVE ME VECTORS? I ADVISED HIM THAT I HAD THE ATIS INFO; AND WOULD APPRECIATE HIS ASSISTANCE. I HAD ALREADY ENTERED MYF IN THE GPS; BUT ANY HELP IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED. AT ABOUT 10 MI OUT; I SAW THE ILS SWING IN; AND I WAS DEAD CTR; AND ON GS. THE CTLR ADVISED ME OF PARALLEL TFC; A HELI; AND PASSED ME OFF TO THE TWR. I'M LOOKING FOR THE TFC AT MY 9 O'CLOCK POS; AND WAITING FOR THE LNDG LIGHTS TO BREAK THROUGH THE SCATTERED HAZE LAYER. I SWITCH FROM APCH TO TWR FREQ; AND THEY ADVISE ME OF TFC TO MY L; AND I AM SLOWING THE ACFT DOWN; BRINGING IN FLAPS; LOOKING FOR TFC; SEE THE ARPT RIGHT WHERE IT SHOULD BE; IDENT THE VASI AND MY ALIGNMENT; LOOK FOR TFC; CHK ALIGNMENT; SPD GOOD; ON CTRLINE; ON GS; NO TFC; FLARE; FLARE; FLARE; AND THE REST IS HISTORY. THAT WAS THE MOST SCARY PART OF THE FLT. IMMEDIATELY; I HEARD ALL THAT NOISE; SAW THE PROP DEAD ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE WINDSCREEN; AND I UTTERED ONLY 1 WORD. I KNEW WHAT HAPPENED. I KEYED THE MIKE; AND SAID; 'GEAR UP LNDG;' AND SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN. THE GEAR UP HORN DIDN'T SOUND. I HAD THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAD EXITED THE ACFT; THE MAIN PWR WAS TURNED OFF; AVIONICS WERE OFF; GAS WAS OFF; AND WE WERE ALRIGHT.
