A B737-300 CREW DISTR BY WAKE TURB ON DEP OVERSPED THE FLAPS WHEN THEY FAILED TO RETRACT THEM ON SCHEDULE.

Narrative

DURING CLBOUT FROM LAX WE BECAME DISTR BY A SLIGHT WAKE TURB ENCOUNTER AND RADIO CALL FROM DEP REGARDING VISUAL SEPARATION WITH THE PRECEDING DEP. DURING THE DISTR; WE INADVERTENTLY NEGLECTED TO RETRACT THE FLAPS FROM POS 1. SHORTLY THEREAFTER; I (PM) REALIZED OUR ERROR AND RETRACTED THE FLAPS. AIRSPD WAS BTWN 245-250 KTS. NOTIFIED DISPATCH BY ACARS TO ADVISE MAINT CTL IN ORDER TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR ANY NECESSARY INSPECTIONS ON ARR. WE WERE MET BY CONTRACT MAINT. NOTIFIED MAINT CTL BY PHONE AND ENTERED THE OVERSPD CONDITION IN THE LOGBOOK. IN THE FUTURE I WILL ENSURE THAT ANY DISTRS THAT OCCUR PRIOR TO TKOF ARE COMPLETELY RESOLVED AND REMOVED FROM MY THOUGHT PROCESS PRIOR TO CONTINUING THE FLT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR ON ACN 719643 REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THIS EVENT WAS SHORT LIVED BUT ONE OF THE CUES TO AN INCORRECT CONFIGN WAS THE ACFT'S RELUCTANCE TO ACCELERATE. THE CREW'S MAINT RPT DID NOT GENERATE ANY PROBS FOR THEM AND THE EVENT REVIEW COMMITTEE ACKNOWLEDGED RECEIPT OF THEIR RPT AND INDICATED THAT NO FURTHER ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN.
