LEAR LR40 FLT CREW HAS CTL DIFFICULTIES DEPARTING DVT.

Narrative

ON A PLT DEMO FLT AT DVT WHILE DEPARTING RWY 7R FOR R TFC LNDG RWY 7R DVT IN AN LR40. THE PLT IN THE L SEAT WITH NO LEARJET EXPERIENCE AND MYSELF IN THE R AS A DEMO PLT AND ANOTHER DEMO PLT IN THE MIDDLE ACTING AS SAFETY PLT. WHILE ON DEP I LOOKED R FOR TFC AND SAID CLR R THEN I HEARD A POP SOUND AND THE PLT SAID IT WILL NOT TURN. I LOOKED AT THE YOKE AND COULD SEE HE HAD SOMEHOW HIT THE ROLL DISCONNECT WHICH ALLOWS THE L YOKE TO FLY WITH THE SPOILERONS AND THE R YOKE TO USE THE AILERONS VIA CABLES. BECAUSE THE YOKES WERE AT DIFFERENT ANGLES AND THE ACFT WAS TURNING L I SAID I HAVE THE CTLS. I FLEW THE ACFT STRAIGHT AHEAD BECAUSE OF TERRAIN AND TRIED TO RECONNECT THE YOKES BUT I HAD TO KEEP THE R YOKE ALMOST FULL R TO KEEP WINGS LEVEL. THEN I NOTICED THAT THE AILERON TRIM WAS TRIMMED DOWN FULL L TRIM; I CTRED THE TRIM AND RECONNECTED THE CTLS. AT THIS TIME DEER VALLEY TWR SAID WE WERE GETTING NEAR SCOTTSDALE AIRSPACE; AFTER A QUICK CTL CHK I TURNED R DOWNWIND FOR RWY 7R AT DVT AND AT ABOUT MIDFIELD HANDED OVER THE CTLS TO THE PLT IN THE L SEAT. THE MAX ALT ACHIEVED WAS 2200 FT AGL AND I AM NOT SURE OF HOW CLOSE WE FLEW TO SDL. ONCE ON THE GND I CALLED DVT TWR TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION. I ASKED IF ANY CALLS OR ANY PAPERWORK ON MY BEHALF WAS NEEDED AND THE CTLR TOLD ME NOTHING WAS REQUIRED. THE #1 LEADING FACTOR WAS THAT THIS PLT WAS NOT GIVEN A CHANCE FOR A FULL DEMO SO COCKPIT FAMILIARIZATION WAS AT A LOWER THAN NORMAL LEVEL. TO PREVENT REOCCURRENCE I WILL NOT BE TALKED INTO A NON STANDARD DEMO IN THE FUTURE.
