Synopsis

MD80 FLT CREW ENCOUNTERS WINDSHEAR AND FUMES IN THE CABIN DURING INITIAL CLB AFTER TKOF FROM DFW.

Narrative

THE CAPT WAS FLYING. WE HAD JUST TAKEN OFF FROM RWY 35L AND WERE ASSIGNED THE TRISS TWO RNAV DEP. AT APPROX 500 FT AGL; THE CAPT SELECTED NAV ON THE DFGP AND THEN COUPLED UP THE AUTOPLT. AT 1700 FT MSL; WE GOT A DECREASING PERFORMANCE WINDSHEAR WARNING (RED ANNUNCIATION) AND THE CAPT IMMEDIATELY EXECUTED THE WINDSHEAR/MICROBURST PROC. HE USED GO-AROUND POWER; ENG LIMITS WERE NOT EXCEEDED. APPROX 15 SECONDS LATER; THE FLT ATTENDANTS CHIMED THE COCKPIT AND RELAYED TO ME THAT THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL IN THE CABIN. IT APPEARED TO THE CAPT AND I TO BE COMING FROM THE RIGHT AIR CONDITIONING PACK SO I SELECTED A COOLER TEMPERATURE ON THAT PACK. REGIONAL DEP THEN TOLD US THEY SHOWED US LEFT OF COURSE AND DIRECTED US TO RETURN TO COURSE. THEY THEN GAVE US A RIGHT TURN DIRECT TRISS. WE THEN TOLD THEM ABOUT THE WINDSHEAR WARNING AND LATER TOLD DISPATCH AS WELL. FOLLOWING THE WINDSHEAR F/D GUIDANCE HAD CAUSED US TO DRIFT OFF OF THE RNAV PROFILE. THE WINDSHEAR RECOVERY AND POSSIBLE SMOKE IN THE CABIN TOOK PRIORITY AND I HONESTLY WOULD NOT CHANGE ANYTHING WE DID IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN AGAIN.
