BE24 PLT HAS NMAC AT SEZ WHILE ENTERING THE PATTERN.

Narrative

APCHED SEZ (SEDONA) FROM THE S AND TUNED TO THE AWOS. IT WAS RPTING WINDS CALM. I XMITTED ON CTAF THAT I WAS INBOUND ON THE 45 DEG ENTRY TO RWY 21. I WAS AT 6000 FT MSL ON A HDG OF APPROX 350 DEGS AND SLOWING FROM 120 KIAS. ON CTAF A CESSNA ADVISES OF AN ABORTED TKOF ON RWY 21 DUE TO A DOOR AJAR. A MOONEY RPTING HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 21 PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED HIS INTENTION TO TAKE OFF AND DEPART TO THE S. I SAW THE MOONEY TAKE OFF AND TURN TO THE S PASSING ME TO THE L AT ABOUT 1/2 MI. JUST BEFORE TURNING DOWNWIND; MY PAX CALLED OUT TFC CLOSE AND HIGH. I NOSED OVER AS I SAW A CESSNA PASSING OVERHEAD 150 FT AND CLBING ON A COURSE OF APPROX 120 DEGS. I RECOVERED FROM THE SLIGHT DIVE AND CONTINUED DOWNWIND. I NEVER SAW THE CESSNA AGAIN. A PIPER CUB ADVISED HE WAS ENTERING A L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 3. I CHKED THE WINDSOCKS; THE WIND WAS OUT OF THE E FAVORING A LNDG ON RWY 3. I EXTENDED MY DOWNWIND FOR SPACING; THEN TURNED XWIND FOR ENTERING A DOWNWIND FOR RWY 3 BEHIND THE PIPER CUB. I CLRED THE RWY MID FIELD. AFTER THE CESSNA ADVISED OF THE ABORTED TKOF; I NEVER HEARD A CESSNA MAKE ANOTHER XMISSION. A PIPER DID ADVISE HE WOULD HOLD SHORT OF RWY 21 FOR MY LNDG ON RWY 3. AS THERE WERE MULTIPLE XMISSIONS ON CTAF; I WAS LOOKING TO IDENT EACH AIRPLANE'S POS. I NEVER SAW THE CESSNA ABORT TKOF; BUT DID SEE THE MOONEY TAKE OFF AND PIPER CUB ENTER INTO DOWNWIND. I BELIEVE THE CESSNA THAT ABORTED TKOF MAY HAVE TAXIED BACK TO RWY 21 AND TOOK OFF; BUT I NEVER HEARD ANY XMISSIONS; NOR DID I SEE THE AIRPLANE ON THE RWY. IF IT DID TAKE OFF FROM RWY 21; IT MADE A XWIND DEP TO THE SE. THE AIRPLANE WAS SHIELDED BY MY ACFT'S FORWARD DOOR POST DURING MY 45 DEG APCH TO DOWNWIND. ANOTHER POSSIBILITY IS: THE CONFLICT AIRPLANE WAS NOT THE CESSNA THAT ABORTED TKOF BUT WAS ANOTHER CESSNA PASSING OVER THE DEP END OF RWY 21 FROM THE NW; ALSO SHIELDED BY THE FORWARD DOOR POSTS. I AM NOW MORE AWARE OF THE BLIND AREAS OF MY AIRPLANE AND WILL KEEP THESE AREAS IN MIND WHEN SCANNING FOR TFC. I THINK I WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ALERTED TO THE CESSNA'S POS HAD THEY XMITTED THEIR INTENTIONS.
