A B737-900 WITH A RUDDER PEDAL DISCREPANCY WAS REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO FLT STATUS WITH THE NOSE GEAR PIN INSTALLED WHEN NO PIN WAS CALLED FOR.

Narrative

I WAS WORKING THE INSTALLATION PORTION OF THE CAPT SIDE JACKSHAFT ASSEMBLY (RUDDER PEDAL ADJUSTMENT; CRANK WAS JAMMED). I WAS WORKING WITH 2 OTHER MAINT TECHNICIANS ON THIS JOB; NONE OF US INSTALLED ANY GEAR PINS; OUR MANUALS FOR OUR WORK DID NOT CALL OUT FOR THIS. I DID NOT SEE A GEAR PIN STREAMER IN THE NOSEWHEEL WELL AREA WHICH WAS OUR WORK AREA. I DID NOT ENTER THE MAIN WHEEL WELLS OR WORK ON THE MAIN GEAR. I REVIEWED THE LOG PAGE; WRITE-UP; AND ANY OPEN LOG PAGES IN THE LOGBOOK -- NONE OF THESE DOCUMENTS MADE NOTE OF PINS BEING INSTALLED. ON TUESDAY; I DO NOT RECALL SEEING A STREAMER ON THE NOSE LNDG GEAR. ALSO NONE OF US 3 INSTALLED ANY GEAR PINS; WE HAD NO REFS OR REASONS TO DO THIS. I SIGNED MY WORK OFF AS COMPLETE. I WAS NOT INVOLVED WITH TAKING THIS ACFT TO THE GATE. NOTE: I AM AWARE ANY TIME PINS ARE INSTALLED THAT A LOG PAGE MUST BE OPENED. FYI: I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO NOTE THAT DURING THE TIME WE WERE WORKING THIS JOB; MY IMMEDIATE SUPVR AND MGR ENTERED THE NOSEWHEEL WELL; BOTH STATING THAT THEY SAW NO GEAR PIN PRESENT.
