A319 FLT CREW IS CONCERNED WITH THE DEICING PROCS AT DEN.
Narrative
AFTER PUSH AND TAXI OUT OF DEN; WE NEEDED TO DEICE. WE WERE ASSIGNED PAD. AFTER WE CHKED INTO FREQ; WE HEARD ONE OF OUR JETS GET HIS DEICE INFO. THE DEICE CREW RPTED TYPE I...TIME....' WE ASKED IF THEY WERE SHOOTING TYPE I ONLY. WE RPTED ATIS CALLING FOR -18 DEGS C WITH LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE. ANOTHER DEICE COORDINATOR CAME UP ON FREQ AND STARTED SPLITTING NUMBERS AND THAT HIS COMPUTER WAS STATING THAT WE HAD HOLDOVER TIMES TO 31 MINS. I THEN GOT ON FREQ AND ASKED WHERE THE COMPUTER WAS GETTING THESE NUMBERS; WITH A -18 DEGS C AND FALLING PRECIP. WE THEN ASKED FOR A FOLLOW-UP TYPE IV -- WHICH WE GOT. THE SAME MAN CAME UP ON FREQ AND STATED THAT WITH A TYPE IV; HOLDOVER WOULD BE 120 MINS. AGAIN; NOT THE TIME WE HAVE IN OUR FOM; BUT WORKABLE. WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THE DEICING; WITH PRECIP FALLING OF TYPE I ONLY? AGAIN; YOU COULD EASILY SEE THE FALLING MOISTURE; IE; WE DID NOT NEED ATIS TO STATE THIS CONDITION. WE DID HAVE 2 JETS TAXI OUT WITH ONLY A TYPE I. I AM SURE THAT WE ALL KNOW BETTER; BUT THINGS DO HAPPEN FOR ALL KINDS OF REASONS.
