Narrative
MCO APCH ISSUED 'CLEARED FOR THE VISUAL APCH RWY 17L CROSS FONIK AT OR ABOVE 3000 FT.' OUR POSITION TO MY KNOWLEDGE WAS S OF FONIK AND JUST N OF SEEDO INTERSECTIONS. AS THE PNF I SET 2500 FT IN THE ALTITUDE WINDOW (AS PER THE ILS CROSSING ALTITUDE AT SEEDO). APCH CTL REMINDED US TO CROSS N OF FONIK ABOVE 3000 FT. I TOLD THE FO TO GIVE IT TO HIM (I.E.: CLIMB BACK TO 3000 FT). UPON REACHING 3000 FT AND DESCENDING ON THE GS S OF FONIK; WE COMMENCED DESCENT FROM 3000 FT. WE WERE SWITCHED TO MCO TOWER AND WERE GIVEN LANDING CLRNC. AND WERE TOLD TO CALL APCH CTL VIA PHONE UPON BLOCK IN. I TALKED TO THE FRONT LINE SUPERVISOR (MCO APCH) AND HE ADVISED ME HE WAS GOING TO PULL THE TAPES AND REVIEW. ALSO; I WAS TO CALL HIM UPON TERMINATION OF MY NEXT LEG. UPON BLOCK IN AT BDL; I RETURNED THE CALL TO MCO APCH AND WAS TOLD THE TAPES WERE UNINTELLIGIBLE AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. CONCLUSION: IT WAS A LAST MINUTE RWY SWITCH FROM THE W COMPLEX TO THE E COMPLEX WITH VERY CONGESTED RADIO TFC. I ASSUMED WE WERE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE ATC CONSTRAINT AND REALIZED IT WAS NOT SO. COMBINED WITH THE ABOVE FACTS; IT WAS A TASK SATURATED ENVIRONMENT. MAINTAINING SITUATIONAL AWARENESS WHILE ACCOMPLISHING DIFFICULT ATC INSTRUCTIONS WILL REQUIRE MORE VIGILANCE.
