Narrative
THIS RPT IS BEING FILED AS I WAS CONTACTED BY THE AIRLINES ON JAN/MON/07 WITH REGARDS TO MY INVOLVEMENT WITH THE SITUATION BELOW. IN OCT/2005 I WAS WORKING AS A LEAD TECHNICIAN FOR MAINT AT ZZZ ARPT. I WAS CONTACTED BY ANOTHER AIRLINE TO EVALUATE AND ASSIST IN REMOVING AN ACFT THAT WAS STUCK ON AN ACTIVE RWY AT ZZZ. THE ACFT LANDED AND CAME TO A STOP WITH BOTH NOSE LNDG GEAR TIRES BLOWN OUT AND WHEEL RIMS PARTIALLY GROUND DOWN. MAINT CTL WAS ADVISED THAT NON NORMAL JACKING OF THE ACFT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO CHANGE BOTH NOSE TIRES AND CLR ACFT FROM THE RWY. THE NOSE LNDG GEAR JACK POINT WAS IMBEDDED IN THE CEMENT. TO PLACE THE JACK FOR WHEEL REMOVAL THE NOSE LNDG GEAR STRUT WOULD HAVE TO BE RAISED BY ALTERNATE JACKING. ACR NOSE JACKS WERE NOT READILY AVAILABLE. A COMBINATION OF WOOD BEAMS AND 2 JACKS WERE USED TO RAISE THE NOSE LNDG GEAR STRUT. THEN A JACK WAS PLACED UNDER THE NOSE LNDG GEAR JACKING POINT. THE NOSE TIRES WERE REPLACED AND ACFT TOWED TO THE GATE. I WAS IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH MAINT CTL FOR APPROVAL OF JACKING AND GUIDANCE WITH LOGBOOK ENTRIES TO COVER INSTALLATION OF NOSE LNDG GEAR TIRES (TO FACILITATE MOVEMENT OF ACFT OFF RWY) AND REQUIRED INSPECTION OF THE NOSE LNDG GEAR. ALL ASSOCIATED AMM PAPERWORK WAS FAXED TO US AND RECEIVED. THE LCL PORT AUTH ARPT MGR WAS ON SCENE. THE RWY WAS CLOSED AND THERE WAS GREAT TIME PRESSURE TO REOPEN THE AFFECTED RWY.
