CITATION CE525 PLT HAS A TXWY EXCURSION AT BLV; AND CITES SIGNAGE AS CONTRIBUTORY.

Narrative

AFTER LNDG ON RWY 14L WE WERE TAXIING ON THE PARALLEL TXWY MIKE AND WERE GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE THE FIRST R WE CAME TO; TXWY GOLF; SO AS TO ENTER THE FBO PARKING AREA. AT THE FIRST R I TURNED THE ACFT INTO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE TAXI ENTRANCE ONLY TO LEARN THAT WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A TXWY WAS A VEHICULAR ENTRANCE FOR SERVICE VEHICLES. I HAD ENTERED APPROX 25 FT WHEN I REALIZED THE ERROR. I CALLED THE GND CTL AND ADVISED THEM OF MY ERROR AT WHICH TIME I WAS AUTHORIZED TO MAKE A 180 DEG TURN TO CONTINUE ON THE PROPER TAXI ENTRANCE TO THE FBO DESIGNATED WAS GOLF. I FELT THAT THERE WAS INADEQUATE SPACE IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE APPROVED TURN. I ADVISED GND CTL AT WHICH TIME THEY APPROVED FOR US TO SHUT DOWN OUR ENGINES AND PUSH THE ACFT BACK APPROX 25 FT SO AS TO CONTINUE DOWN THE TXWY TO THE FBO. AFTER OUR PUSHBACK AND ENGINE START I AGAIN CALLED GND CTL TO CONFIRM THAT WE WERE STILL APPROVED FOR OUR TAXI TO THE FBO. WE WERE SO APPROVED AND WERE TOLD BY GND CTL THAT WE DEFINITELY WERE NOT THE FIRST ACFT TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. ALTHOUGH ADMITTEDLY THE TAXI SURFACE WE ENTERED WAS MORE NARROW THAN A TYPICAL TAXI ENTRANCE IT WAS AS WIDE AS MANY WE ARE ACCUSTOMED TO USING INCLUDING THE TXWYS AT OUR HOME ARPT AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHER ARPTS WE VISIT REGULARLY. IT WAS MY FIRST TRIP BACK TO THIS ARPT IN MANY YEARS AND SINCE MY LAST VISIT THE FBO HAD CHANGED POSITIONS ON THE FIELD. A SIGN AT THE ENTRANCE TO SURFACE WE ENTERED IDENTIFYING IT AS 'VEHICLE TFC ONLY' WOULD HAVE PREVENTED OUR MISTAKE. I SHOULD ALSO HAVE EXERCISED MORE ATTENTION SO AS TO IDENTIFY THE TXWY GOLF MARKINGS.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR INDICATED THAT A SIGN FOR THE VEHICLE ROAD WAS CERTAINLY RECOMMENDED.
