AN A319 WAS DISPATCHED WITH THE #1 INTEGRATED DRIVE GENERATOR INOP. DEFERRAL DID NOT MEET MEL LIMITS AS APU PNEUMATIC BLEED SYS WAS INOP AND PREVIOUSLY DEFERRED.

AN A319 WAS DISPATCHED WITH THE #1 INTEGRATED DRIVE GENERATOR INOP. DEFERRAL DID NOT MEET MEL LIMITS AS APU PNEUMATIC BLEED SYS WAS INOP AND PREVIOUSLY DEFERRED.
Narrative
ON INBOUND FLT ZZZ OUR #1 IDG FAULTED. WE FOLLOWED ECAM AND FM DIRECTION AND DISCONNECTED THE IDG. WE STARTED THE APU AND BROUGHT ITS GENERATOR ON LINE. WE HAD JUST DEFERRED THE BLEED PORTION OF THE APU IN ZZZ1 BECAUSE OF ENG STARTING PROBS WITH IT; BUT THE GENERATOR WORKED FINE. WE WROTE UP THE IDG INBOUND TO ZZZ. IN ZZZ; A MECH CAME ON BOARD TO TROUBLESHOOT IN IDG. I CALLED DISPATCH AND THE DISPATCHER SAID THAT IF MAINT COULD NOT GET IDG FIXED; MAINT CTLR PLANNED TO DEFER IT. I STATED MY CONCERN WAS ENRTE WX SO I HAD PLENTY OF OPTIONS IF I HAD TO DIVERT AND THE DISPATCHER SAID THIS WAS NO PROB. I WENT BACK TO ACFT AND TALKED TO MECH AND HE SAID HE COULD NOT FIX IDG AND WOULD DEFER IT. I STATED THAT I WOULD ONLY ACCEPT THAT IF HE THOROUGHLY CHKED APU AND HE SAID HE HAD A LENGTHY CHK TO PERFORM TO DO JUST THAT. HE DID SO AND EVERYTHING CHKED OUT SO WE FLEW TO ZZZ2 WITH APU RUNNING AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. I WAS JUST INFORMED THAT NOW MAINT CTLR SAID THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE DEFERRED THE IDG.
