Narrative
CAPT FLYING. ON CLBOUT APPROX 1500 FT WE GOT ECAM OF STABILIZER JAM AND FLT CTL ECAM (AND RELATED ECAMS). I LEVELED OFF AT 2000 FT AND TOLD FO TO INFORM ATC WE HAVE FLT CTL PROB AND WE WOULD BE RETURNING IMMEDIATELY BACK TO THE ARPT. (VFR WX.) I TOLD HIM TO DECLARE AN EMER (WE KNEW THE STABILIZER WAS JAMMED AS I WAS ABLE TO BANK THE ACFT BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO CTL PITCH WITH STICK INPUTS. WE WERE NOT SURE OF FURTHER FAILURES; IF ANY; AT THAT TIME). WHILE THE FO WAS WORKING WITH ATC AND WORKING ECAM CHKLISTS; I GOT THE ACFT LEVEL AT 2000 FT; SLOWED AND TURNED DOWNWIND. (NO AUTOPLT DUE TO FAILURES.) I HAD STICK INPUTS FOR BANK; MANUAL STABILIZER; CTL. ATC NOTIFIED THE EQUIP AND CLRED US TO LAND ON ANY RWY. WHILE COMPLETING ECAMS WE CONFIGURED THE ACFT ON DOWNWIND; FULLY CONFIGURED (FINAL FLAPS) ON BASE AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY ON RWY 30R. WE TAXIED TO THE GATE; AND DEBOARDED THE ACFT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 729445: AT APPROX 1500 FT AGL; ECAM 'FLT CTL STABILIZER JAM.' CAPT ADVISED THAT PITCH WAS UNRESPONSIVE. SHE CTLED PITCH MANUALLY WITH TRIM WHEEL. I ADVISED ATC WE NEED TO LEVEL OFF AT 2000 FT AND THE NATURE OF OUR EMER. CAPT INITIATED A R TURN TO THE DOWNWIND FOR A RETURN LNDG. AT THAT TIME I INITIATED THE ECAM ACTIONS. WHEN COMPLETE; I SET UP THE FMGC FOR THE RETURN BACK. CAPT ADVISED LEAD FLT ATTENDANT THE NATURE OF THE PROB; TIME LEFT UNTIL TOUCHDOWN AND TO PREPARE THE CABIN. TURNING FINAL; THE CAPT ASKED ME TO WORK THE MANUAL TRIM. WE LANDED FIRM BUT NOT EXTREMELY HARD. IT WAS AN OVERWT LNDG. DUE TO THE URGENCY TO GET ON THE GND; AN OVERWT LNDG CHKLIST WAS NOT COMPLETED. ROLLOUT WAS NORMAL. WE ADVISED THE FLT ATTENDANTS TO REMAIN SEATED. WE TAXIED BACK TO THE GATE AND DEPLANED PAX.
