EMB 145 INDICATED LNDG GEAR DISAGREE MSG AND NOSE GEAR WAS NOT DOWN. FLT CREW PERFORMED OVERRIDE PROCEDURE; GEAR CONFIRMED DOWN; AND ACFT LANDED NORMALLY.

Narrative

FAILURE OF LNDG GEAR INDICATION. ON FINAL IN STL; AFTER WE PUT THE LNDG GEAR DOWN AND HAD 3 GREEN LIGHTS; THE RED LNDG GEAR/LEVER DISAGREE MESSAGE APPEARED. WE WENT AROUND AND RAN THE APPROPRIATE CHKLIST. AS DIRECTED BY THE QRH; WE RETURNED FOR A SECOND ATTEMPT; AND GOT THE SAME THING; 3 GREEN LIGHTS AND LNDG GEAR/LEVER DISAGREE MESSAGE. THIS TIME THE TWR CTLR SAW THAT THE NOSE GEAR DOORS WERE OPEN; BUT THE NOSE GEAR DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE EXTENDED. WE WENT AROUND AGAIN AND CALLED MAINT. THEY SUGGESTED WE TRY THE ELECTRICAL OVERRIDE GEAR EXTENSION; WE DID AND THE LNDG GEAR/LEVER DISAGREE MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND THE 3 GREEN INDICATION REMAINED. WE THEN MADE A LOW PASS DOWN THE RWY TO GET A VISUAL CONFIRMATION FROM THE TWR. THE TWR CTLR SAID THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE DOWN; WE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. TWR CTLR NOTICED THE NOSE GEAR WASN'T EXTENDED. 2 GAR'S; FIRST ONE FOR THE INITIAL EICAS MESSAGE; 2ND WHEN TWR NOTIFIED US THE NOSE GEAR WASN'T DOWN. QRH SHOULD DIRECT CREW TO USE THE ABNORMAL GEAR EXTENSION NO MATTER WHEN THE EICAS MESSAGE APPEARS.
