Narrative
WHEN I RETURNED FROM MY BREAK THE CAPT INFORMED US THAT THERE HAD BEEN A HYD PROB WITH THE CTR SYS. HE GAVE US A THOROUGH BRIEFING EXPLAINING WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THE ACTIONS HE HAD TAKEN. HE EXPLAINED WHAT HE WANTED US TO DO AND UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES HE WANTED TO BE NOTIFIED. WHILE THE CAPT WAS ON BREAK WE REVIEWED THE HYD SYS IN THE FLT MANUAL. WE ALSO REVIEWED CHKLISTS INVOLVED WITH THIS FAILURE. THE CAPT RETURNED FROM BREAK AND WE DECIDED TO PLAN ON USING THE CTR HYD SYS TO GET THE GEAR AND FLAPS DOWN AS WE APCHED ZZZ. ATC WAS ADVISED THAT WE WOULD LIKE A LONG FINAL APCH SEGMENT IN CASE GEAR AND FLAPS DIDN'T WORK NORMALLY. THE CAPT BRIEFED A FLAPS 20 DEG LNDG IN CASE THE CTR SYS DIDN'T OPERATE NORMALLY. ON THE DOWNWIND AND BASE LEG THE FLAPS AND GEAR WERE EXTENDED NORMALLY. AFTER A NORMAL LNDG THE TWR RPTED SMOKE COMING FROM OUR L MAIN LNDG GEAR AND WE STOPPED AND WAITED FOR RESCUE EQUIP TO ARRIVE AND ASSESS. A MECH AND TUG WERE ALSO WAITING AS WE LANDED. AFTER ASSESSING THE PLANE THE MECH DECIDED TO TOW US TO THE GATE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 749232: AT CRUISE; THE CAPT AND I RECEIVED AN EICAS MESSAGE; HYD C QUANTITY LOW. WE REVIEWED THE HYD PAGE AND NOTICED THE CTR QUANTITY WAS .40. WE RAN THE EICAS AND REVIEWED THE FLT MANUAL; THEN CONTACTED MAINT AND DISPATCH. AFTER CONSULTATION WITH MAINT THE CAPT AND I DECIDED TO TURN OFF ALL HYD PUMPS TO CONSERVE ANY REMAINING HYD FLUID. THE REMAINDER OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL. DURING DSCNT INTO ZZZ WE TURNED ON ALL HYD PUMPS AND LOWERED THE LNDG GEAR AND FLAPS WITH NO PROBS. THE CAPT MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG. WE TAXIED OFF RWY AND STOPPED THE ACFT. TWR AND GND NOTICED SMOKE EMANATING FROM OUR L GEAR AND DISPATCHED THE EMER EQUIP. NO FIRE WAS NOTICED AND AFTER ENG SHUTDOWN WE WERE TOWED TO THE GATE. ALL CHKLISTS AND PROCS WERE RAN UNEVENTFULLY.
