Narrative
ON THE FLT TO ORD; OUR ARRIVAL WAS CHANGED FROM THE ROYKO ONE TO THE KNOX THREE WITH A DESCENT CLRNC TO 11000 FT AT BEARZ AT 280 KTS. ATIS WAS RECEIVED WITH EXPECT LNDG RWY 22R. THE FMS WAS SET UP FOR RWY 22R. ANOTHER SPEED CHANGE TO 320 KTS WAS GIVEN; TURN AND SPEED CHANGE TO 300 KTS DIRECT TO BEARZ TO CROSS AT 11000 FT. CHANGED CTLRS; NEW HDG AND ALT WAS GIVEN FOR VECTORS TO RWY 27L ILS. I WAS SETTING UP THE RWY 27L ILS IN THE FMS'S AND NAVS WHEN CTLR ASK SPEED. I LOOKED UP AND SAW 300 KTS AS WE WERE AT 8500 FT MSL. AT THAT POINT THE PF REDUCED SPEED TO 250 KTS WITH IDLE POWER AND AIRBRAKES TO POSITION #2. PF AND MYSELF TALKED ABOUT IT AFTER LANDING. HE WAS SO FOCUSED ON THE 300 KTS DUE TO ALL THE OTHER SPEED ASSIGNMENTS THAT HE WENT THROUGH 10000 FT DOING 300 KTS. I WAS VERY BUSY IN THE R SEAT KEEPING UP WITH CHANGES IN THE FMS AND RADIOS (COM AND NAV). I SHOULD HAVE KEPT IT SIMPLE AND TUNED ONLY THE NAVS TO RWY 27L ILS FREQ. A LOT OF CHANGES IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME LEADS TO ONLY ONE PILOT IN THE COCKPIT. I SHOULD HAVE JUST KEPT IT SIMPLE.
