C-205 IS INVOLVED IN NMAC WHILE LNDG AT UNCONTROLLED ARPT.

Narrative

I WAS FLYING DIRECT TO GLE USING MY GARMIN 430. I WAS MONITORING THE RADIO BUT NOT USING IT FOR POS REPORTING. I FLEW INTO GLE; L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 35 AT A 45 DEG ANGLE; SW. I HEARD THE KING AIR STATE THAT HE WAS ON FINAL BEFORE I WAS ON DOWNWIND. PRIOR TO ME TURNING BASE FOR RWY 35; THE KING AIR STATED AGAIN; THAT HE WAS ON FINAL. THE KING AIR DID NOT FLY A PATTERN APCH TO LAND AND MUST HAVE FLOWN A 'DIRECT TO FINAL' (LONG FINAL). I WAITED FOR THE KING AIR TO PASS MY L WING BEFORE TURNING TO L BASE FOR RWY 35. BEFORE MY WHEELS TOUCHED DOWN; THE KING AIR HAD CLRED THE ACTIVE RWY. ONCE ON THE GND; THE PLT OF THE KING AIR STATED THAT WE ALMOST HAD A MIDAIR COLLISION. HE HAD TCAS ON BOARD AND EVIDENTLY IT GAVE A WARNING LIGHT. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE CALLED BACK TO CTR FOR POS OF MY ACFT. THE KING AIR PLT STATED THAT WE HAD ONLY 100 FT OF SEPARATION. I FIRST SPOTTED THE KING AIR WHILE I WAS ON L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 35. WE MUST HAVE CAME CLOSE TO COLLIDING MUCH FURTHER S OF THE ARPT; IF IN FACT WE DID. I WILL USE MY RADIO; ALWAYS; FROM THIS POINT FORWARD EVEN THOUGH IT MAY NOT BE A REQUIREMENT AT GLE (UNCTLED AIRSPACE AND NO TWR). I DO BELIEVE THAT THE KING AIR; SINCE HE HAD VISUAL CONTACT AND TCAS ON BOARD; SHOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED US TO GET AS CLOSE AS 100 FT OF SEPARATION.
