Narrative
WE WERE BEING VECTORED TO THE ILS RWY 10 APCH WHEN ASKED TO HOLD. AFTER 1 HOLD WE WERE VECTORED INBOUND TO INTERCEPT THE ILS. ATC TOLD US TO FLY 100 DEGS AND INTERCEPT ILS. UPON FLYING 100 DEGS I BLEW RIGHT THROUGH THE ILS. MY DIRECTIONAL GYRO HAD PRECESSED. I INITIATED A TURN TO COME BACK TO INTERCEPT ILS. THEN ZOB TOLD ME TO CONTACT TWR. MY RADIOS ARE DOWN AND LEFT SO COPLT CAN'T HELP. UPON CHANGING FREQS I REALIZED I WAS IN AN UNUSUAL ATTITUDE. TURNING HARD L AND DROPPING 2000 FPM; I REGAINED CTL BY PULLING UP AND LEVELING WINGS. IN THE CORRECTION I OVER CORRECTED AND GAINED SEVERAL HUNDRED FT. I WAS BECOMING OVERWHELMED AND REPORTED TO THE TWR AND STILL HAD A FULL DEFLECTION. I CALLED A MISSED. I WAS HESITANT TO TAKE MY ATTN OFF OF AVIATING THE PANEL AND ASKED TWR TO XFER ME TO CHICAGO TO GET VECTORS ON THE MISSED AS I DIDN'T WANT TO RETURN TO AN UNUSUAL ATTITUDE. WHEN I CHANGED FREQ TO ZOB THEY WERE CALLING FOR ME TO DSND TO 3000 FT. I ENTERED THE APCH AT A LITTLE OVER 3000 FT AND INCREASED WHILE MAKING MY CORRECTION TO THE UNUSUAL ATTITUDE AND CHICAGO REPORTED TFC AT 4000 FT AS THEY TOLD ME TO DSND FROM 3600 FT TO 3000 FT.
