B767-300ER INBOUND TO A FOREIGN STATION USING METRIC ALTS; USES QFE CONVERSION CHARTS VICE QNH AND BUSTS CLRED ALT BY 600 FEET.
Narrative
DSNDING INTO ZZZ2; PASSING THE TRANSITION LEVEL; WE SWITCHED TO QNH ALTIMETRY. THE FO AND RELIEF PLT WERE USING THEIR ALT/FT CONVERSION CHARTS TO CONVERT METERS TO FT. THERE WAS NO CHKLIST ON THE ACFT. I THOUGHT NO PROB; AS THEY EACH HAD ONE. UNFORTUNATELY; THEY EACH HAD OUT-OF-DATE QFE CHKLISTS -- NOT QNH. WE WERE TOLD BY APCH THAT WE WERE AT 500 METERS INSTEAD OF 600 METERS TURNING FINAL. WE WERE JUST BELOW THE BASES AND HAD ADEQUATE VISIBILITY TO CONTINUE. THE 2 FO'S RECHKED THEIR CHARTS AND CONFIRMED WE WERE AT THE RIGHT ALT. WE INTERCEPTED THE GS AND LANDED SAFELY. WE WERE ALL BOTHERED BY THIS AND PRIOR TO LEAVING I ASKED TO SEE THEIR CHKLISTS. I IMMEDIATELY REALIZED THEY EACH HAD THE WRONG CHKLIST. WE ENSURED WE HAD CORRECT ONES BEFORE LEAVING. THINGS TO DO BETTER: I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MY OWN CHKLIST OUT WHEN THE CTLR TOLD US WE WERE LOW. BOTH THE OLD AND NEW CHKLISTS ARE THE SAME PALE YELLOW. A COLOR CHANGE WITH A MAJOR CHKLIST CHANGE MAY HAVE PREVENTED THE PROB. FINALLY; THE CTLR WAS VERY SHARP. WHEN WE SAID WE THOUGHT WE WERE AT THE CORRECT ALT; HE CANCELED OUR APCH CLRNC AND HAD US TRACK THE LOC. AS WE APCHED THE GS; HE CLRED US FOR THE APCH.
