C172 MAKING VFR APCH TO RWY 28R AT MRY; ALLEGES UNPROFESSIONAL CTLR BEHAVIOR WHEN ADVISING ATC THEY WERE UNABLE TO SIGHT ACR ON RWY 28L.

Narrative

WHILE ON A VISUAL APCH FOR A FULL STOP LNDG AT MRY RWY 28R; A CTLR (TWR) LOST HIS TEMPER ON THE AIR. I WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 28R FROM THE N ALONG THE SHORELINE. SIMULTANEOUSLY; JET TFC WAS ARRIVING ON RWY 28L. ON BASE FOR R-HAND TFC; I WAS TOLD TO WATCH FOR LNDG TFC ON FINAL FOR RWY 28L. I ACKNOWLEDGED; AND REPLIED NEGATIVE SIGHTING MULTIPLE TIMES. THE JET WAS ADVISED THE SAME. THE JET REPLIED POSITIVE CONTACT; AND CONTINUED THE APCH. TURNING BASE TO FINAL; THE CTLR WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY AGITATED THAT I WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE INBOUND JET. (THE JET WAS BEHIND ME AND I HAVE NO REAR VISIBILITY.) I FINALLY SAW THE JET TOUCH DOWN ON RWY 28L AS I TOUCHED DOWN ON RWY 28R. THE CTLR; NOW AGGRAVATED; BECAME INCREASINGLY HOSTILE. I CLRED RWY 28R AFTER A FULL STOP LNDG AND PROCEEDED TO THE POS HOLD MARKINGS; DENOTING CLR OF THE RWY. AFTER STOPPING; CLR OF THE RWY; I ASKED FOR THE TWR PHONE NUMBER. TAXIING TO AN FBO (AFTER A LOCATION MIX-UP); I USED THE TELEPHONE TO CALL THE TWR. THE CTLR COULDN'T EXPLAIN HIS AGGRESSION AND OFFERED NO APOLOGY. HE CLAIMED THAT HIS VOICE TONE WAS TO IMPLY URGENCY. HE SAID THAT I SHOULD HAVE TAXIED OFF THE RWY IMMEDIATELY; AND CLAIMED FROM HIS POS; HE THOUGHT I WAS MOVING ON AN UNAUTH TXWY. THIS INCIDENT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY PROFESSIONALISM. THIS IS THE WORST CASE OF TWR AGGRESSION THAT I HAVE SEEN.
