C152 PLT TAXIED ONTO RWY ENVIRONMENT WITH AN ACFT ON SHORT FINAL AT UNCONTROLLED ARPT. ACFT ON FINAL EXECUTED A GAR.

Narrative

I WAS SECOND FOR DEP; BEHIND ACFT AT HOLD SHORT LINE; WAITING FOR SEVERAL ACFT TO LAND. WHEN FIRST ACFT MOVED TO POS AND HOLD; I ADVANCED TO HOLD SHORT LINE. FOLLOWING ACFT DEP; I LOOKED FOR INCOMING TFC ON FINAL; AND ANNOUNCED TAKING POS AND HOLD. JUST AFTER BEGINNING TO MOVE; AN ACFT CALLED OUT WARNING HE WAS ON SHORT FINAL; CAUSING ME TO STOP IMMEDIATELY BTWN HOLD SHORT LINE AND RWY EDGE. WHEN LNDG ACFT CLRED RWY; I LOOKED FOR TFC; ANNOUNCED DEP AND TOOK THE ACTIVE. I WAS UNAWARE THAT ANOTHER ACFT WAS ON A VERY SHORT FINAL WHEN I TOOK THE ACTIVE; CAUSING THE OTHER ACFT TO ABORT HIS LNDG. I RESUMED TKOF ROLL; BUT RETURNED TO THE FIELD IMMEDIATELY; ON DIRECTION OF FLT INSTRUCTOR WHO WITNESSED THE EVENT. THERE WERE NO RESULTING INJURIES OR DAMAGES. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS INCLUDE: 1) LITTLE EXPERIENCE AT BUSY UNCTLED FIELDS; DURING PEAK HRS; 2) RECENTLY RESUMED FLYING WITH 4.7 HR DUAL REFRESHER TRAINING; AFTER A 10 YR HIATUS; 3) DEP WAS DELAYED BY 1 HR; DUE TO LATE RETURN OF RENTAL ACFT; SO I WAS ANXIOUS TO TKOF; 4) DEP WAS DELAYED FURTHER WAITING ON SEVERAL INBOUND ACFT AT DEP END OF RWY; 5) WHILE WAITING FOR INBOUND ACFT; I BEGAN TO WORK ON SETTING A DEST ON THE GPS; WHICH I HAD JUST LEARNED TO OPERATE; DECREASING MY ABILITY TO RECOGNIZE AND KEEP TRACK OF ALL INBOUND ACFT ANNOUNCEMENTS; 6) FAILED TO ROTATE ACFT AT HOLD SHORT LINE; WHICH WOULD HAVE ENABLED ME TO SEE ALL THE AIRSPACE IN THE FINAL APCH PATH -- BY REMAINING PERPENDICULAR TO THE RWY; HIGH WINGS BLOCKED FULL VIEW; 7) BEGAN MOVEMENT IMMEDIATELY AFTER ANNOUNCING; NOT GIVING ACFT TIME TO CALL OUT INSTRUCTIONS FOR ME TO REMAIN IN PLACE. AS REMEDIAL ACTION; I SCHEDULED DUAL INSTRUCTION TO CONCENTRATE ON UNCTLED AIRFIELD OPS.
