H25 FLT CREW EXCEEDS 1500 FOOT INITIAL ALTITUDE ON THE TEB 5 DEP.
Narrative
WHILE CLBING OUT ON THE TEB SID FROM RWY 24 WE OVERSHOT THE INITIAL CLB BY APPROX 300 FT WHEN WE WERE ALERTED BY THE CTLR ABOUT OUR DEV. IMMEDIATE CORRECTIVE ACTION WAS TAKEN AND WE BEGAN OUR DSCNT TO 1500 FT AS INITIALLY ASSIGNED ON THE SID PROC. WE WERE THEN CLRED TO 6000 FT AND THE REST OF OUR DEP WAS UNEVENTFUL; THANK GOD WE DID NOT CREATE A CONFLICT FOR ANOTHER AIRPLANE. WHAT HAPPENED HERE IS THAT WE FAILED TO REMEMBER THAT THE CLB IS INITIALLY ONLY TO 1500 FT ON THE DEP AND THE CLB ON TO 2000 FT IS AT 4.5 DME FROM THE VOR. WE PROCEEDED WITH THE CLB STRAIGHT TO 2000 FT. I MISINTERPRETED THE DEP AND OMITTED TO SEE THE EXPLANATION PERTAINING TO THIS RESTR. FACTORS THAT COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED HERE IS THAT WE DO NOT OPERATE THIS ARPT VERY MUCH AND WE HAD LENGTHY GND HOLDS BEFORE TAKEOFF TAKING THE FLT OUT OF ITS NORMAL CHOREOGRAPHY HERE. ALSO THIS REFLECTS THAT WE NEED TO UTILIZE OR CREATE OUR OWN SOPS TO INCLUDE A THOROUGH BRIEFING AND TO MAKE SURE WE UNDERSTAND ALL ASPECTS OF THE DEP PROCS ISSUED.
