Synopsis

FLT CREW OF SF34 ADVISED BY FAA RAMP INSPECTOR THAT JACK PADS USED FOR WEIGHING THE ACFT HAD NOT BEEN REMOVED PRIOR TO FLT.

Narrative

PRIOR TO DEP; THE FAA STARTED INSPECTING OUR ACFT. THE CAPT WENT OUTSIDE AND SPOKE TO THEM. UPON RETURNING TO THE FLT DECK; HE INFORMED ME THAT JACK PADS WERE STILL ON OUR ACFT. THE ACFT HAD BEEN FERRIED FROM ZZZ1. AFTER THE ACFT ARRIVED; WE WALKED OUT TO IT AND BEGAN GETTING READY FOR DEP. I PERFORMED A PREFLT. SINCE IT WAS NOT THE FIRST FLT OF THE DAY; I DID NOT DO SUCH THINGS AS OPEN THE GEAR DOORS. I MADE SURE THAT THE ACFT WAS IN AIRWORTHY CONDITION AND RETURNED TO THE FLT DECK. I PERFORMED 4 MORE PRE-/POSTFLTS BEFORE THE JACK PADS WERE BROUGHT TO MY ATTN. THERE WERE NO 'REMOVE BEFORE FLT' TAGS ON THEM. WITHOUT THE TAGS; THE JACK PADS LOOKED LIKE ANY OTHER DOMED METAL PIECE ON THE ACFT. I KNOW THAT IF THE JACK PADS HAD THE 'REMOVE BEFORE FLT' TAGS ON THEM; AS THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO; WE WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY SPOTTED THEM. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 780224: THE ACFT HAD JUST COME OUT OF WEIGHING WHEN IT WAS RETURNED TO THE LINE. A JACK PAD WAS LEFT ATTACHED TO THE ACFT WHICH WAS NOT DISCOVERED BY MAINT; GND; OR THE FLT CREW ON THE PRE- OR POSTFLT.
