Narrative

TAXIING OUT FROM GATE AT BWI; CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 15R VIA TXWY P. ACR Y INSTRUCTED TO FOLLOW AT TXWY C. WHEN I STARTED TO TURN R FROM TXWY C AND NOTICED THAT TXWY P HAD WHITE STRIPES -- NOT YELLOW -- I DO NOT RECALL SEEING THE DOUBLE SEGMENTED YELLOW LINES ON THE TXWY LEADING TO RWY 22/4. I STOP THE TURN. I WAS TOO FAR TO TURN BACK TO TXWY P. ATC GND CLRED ME TO TAXI ON RWY 22/4 TO TXWY P1; WAIT FOR ACR Y TO PASS AND THEN CONTINUE TO TAXI TO RWY 15R VIA TXWY P. ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM; TXWY A IS THE INNER TXWY FROM THE RAMP. THE ARPT DIAGRAM DEPICTS AN ISLAND OF GRASS THAT TXWY A GOES S AROUND. THEN ANOTHER ISLAND OF GRASS IS DEPICTED FOR TXWY P. IN OTHER WORDS; I'M LOOKING TO MAKE A TURN AFTER THE SECOND ISLAND. THE ANGLE OF DIRECTION WHEN TAXIING OUT FROM THE RAMP TO TXWY C TO TXWY P IS QUITE ACUTE; MAKING IT HARD TO SEE THE GRASS PATCH ON THE R THAT TXWY A GOES AROUND. THE FIRST PATCH I SAW WAS ACTUALLY MY SECOND REF POINT. TURNING ONTO TXWY P FROM TXWY C I ACTUALLY WAS TURNING TOWARDS RWY 22/4. MAYBE THE SIGNAGE FOR TXWY P COULD BE BETTER LOCATED ON THAT WIDE TXWY THAT TXWY C IS W OF RWY 4/22. THAT MAY; HOWEVER; MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR TFC TO SEE COMING FROM A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. THERE ARE 3 HOT SPOTS LOCATED ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM FOR THE INTXNS NEAR RWY 10 AND TXWY R; TXWY P; AND TXWY P1. THE INTXN THE EVENT OCCURRED ON IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
