AFTER DRYING THE AREA AND INSTALLING NEW INSULATION BLANKETS IN THE LOWER BELLY OF THE E&E COMPARTMENT; MECHANIC IS INFORMED THAT A CONDITIONAL INSPECTION IS REQUIRED FOR THAT AREA OF THE LOWER E&E COMPARTMENT.

AFTER DRYING THE AREA AND INSTALLING NEW INSULATION BLANKETS IN THE LOWER BELLY OF THE E&E COMPARTMENT; MECHANIC IS INFORMED THAT A CONDITIONAL INSPECTION IS REQUIRED FOR THAT AREA OF THE LOWER E&E COMPARTMENT.
Narrative
I WAS ASSIGNED TO WORK ACFT X AND WAS INSTRUCTED BY MY LEAD TO ADDRESS A PARTICULAR LOG PAGE WITH RESPECT TO MOISTURE WHICH HAD BEEN UNDER THE FLOOR BOARD OF THE E&E COMPARTMENT. UPON INSPECTING THE AREA; I DISCOVERED 3 INSULATION BLANKETS WHICH WERE QUITE SOAKED. I REMOVED THE BLANKETS AND DETERMINED THAT THEY WERE NOT UNUSABLE; SO I FABRICATED BRAND NEW ONES USING THE OLD ONES AS TEMPLATES. I DRIED THE AREA THOROUGHLY UNDERNEATH THE WET BLANKETS I FOUND. AFTER FABRICATING THE NEW BLANKETS; I CHKED THEM FOR FIT AND INSTALLED THEM IN THEIR RESPECTIVE PLACES. ANOTHER MECH ON SHIFT REINSTALLED THE FLOOR BOARD AND I SIGNED OFF THE LOG PAGE THINKING THAT I HAD FIXED THE PROB. THE ACFT WAS SCHEDULED FOR REVENUE FLT AND I WORKED THROUGH MY BREAK TO GET THE PROB RESOLVED. LITTLE DID I KNOW; THERE WAS A CONDITIONAL INSPECTION REQUIRED AFTER A GALLEY LEAK OF ANY KIND ACCORDING TO MAINT MANUAL. I DID NOT PERFORM THE CONDITIONAL INSPECTION. FURTHERMORE; I DIDN'T MAKE MENTION IN THE CORRECTIVE ACTION BLOCK THAT I HAD ACTUALLY DRIED OUT THE AREA BENEATH THE WET BLANKETS BY REMOVING ANY MOISTURE (WHICH I HAD ACCOMPLISHED). I HONESTLY KNEW NOTHING OF A CONDITIONAL INSPECTION.
