Narrative

I BELIEVE THE FOLLOWING SIT; WHILE CURRENTLY LEGAL UNDER THE REGS; IS NOT SAFE AND SHOULD BE CHANGED. I FLY WITH A CAPT WHO IS FLYING ACFT UNDER PARTS 121; 135; AND 91 ALL IN THE SAME MONTH. THE PROB IS THAT HE IS QUALIFIED ON AND FLIES 5 DIFFERENT ACFT IN THE SAME MONTH. HE IS CURRENTLY FLYING B727'S UNDER PART 121; LEAR (20'S AND 30'S); FALCON 20'S; AND KING AIR 200'S UNDER PART 135 AND LASTLY IS TRAINING TO FLY 91 FERRY FLTS IN B747'S. THE DANGEROUS PART OF THIS SITUATION IS HOW CAN 1 PERSON MAINTAIN A COMMAND KNOWLEDGE OF ALL THESE ACFT? SIMPLE -- ONE CANNOT. I HAVE FLOWN WITH HIM IN THE B727 ON MANY OCCASIONS AND IN THE SIMULATOR TOO. HE CONSISTENTLY MIXES UP ACFT LIMITATIONS; SYS; AND ALSO DURING EMER OR ABNORMAL SITS APPLIES THE WRONG MEMORY ITEM. ONE EXAMPLE IS WHEN HE TRIES TO DO THE ENG FAILURE PROC FROM A LEAR IN THE B727. ANOTHER EXAMPLE WAS TODAY ON ARR INTO ONT. I WAS FLYING AND CALLED FOR THE LNDG GEAR TO BE EXTENDED ON APCH. HE SAID WE WERE TOO FAST AT 245 KIAS. I PROMPTLY REMINDED HIM THE GEAR SPD ON THE B727 WAS 270 KIAS. THE ABOVE ARE JUST 2 EXAMPLES OF WHICH I HAVE MANY MORE OF. WHEN A PLT IS ENGAGED IN FLYING 121 TRANSPORT ACFT; THE FAA SHOULD LIMIT THE NUMBER OF ACFT HE CAN FLY OUTSIDE HIS PRIMARY JOB FOR COMPENSATION. IT IS JUST TOO DANGEROUS TO HAVE PEOPLE OUT THERE WORKING 2 OR 3 JOBS AND TRYING TO FLY 5 OR MORE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ACFT. THE FAA ALREADY LIMITS THE NUMBER OF ACFT ONE CAN FLY FOR ONE ACR TO 2; AND THEY EVEN DISCOURAGE THAT. THAT LIMITATIONS SHOULD APPLY TO ALL FLYING FOR COMPENSATION. THE MAX NUMBER OF ACFT ONE CAN FLY FOR HIRE AT ANY ONE TIME IS 2; WHEN ONE OF THE ACFT IS A TRANSPORT CATEGORY ACFT.
