Narrative
DURING PREFLT PLANNING IN ZZZ; DISCOVERED A DEFERRAL FOR WING ANTI-ICE VALVE; WHICH HAD THE VALVE SECURED OPEN. THE DEFERRAL INCLUDED A LENGTHY LIST OF FLT CREW ACTIONS. NOT HAVING PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS TYPE OF DEFERRAL; I ACCEPTED THE DEFERRAL AND SIGNED FOR THE ACFT. THIS PARTICULAR DEFERRAL HAD AN ECAM TO ACCOMPLISH RIGHT AFTER ENG START; AND THEN ANOTHER ECAM RIGHT AFTER TKOF. IT WAS THIS LATER ECAM THAT WAS OF CONCERN TO ME. RIGHT AFTER THE 'TKOF INHIBIT' MESSAGE GOES AWAY AFTER TKOF; AN ECAM WITH A MASTER CAUTION APPEARS. THIS REQUIRES THE PNF TO GO HEADS DOWN SHORTLY AFTER TKOF AND DEAL WITH THE ECAM; ALL DURING A VERY CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT. AFTER COMPLETING THIS ECAM AS PART OF THE DEFERRAL; I BECAME CONVINCED THAT I WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE ACFT FOR FURTHER FLT AFTER ZZZ1. WE WERE ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO TAKE THIS ACFT ZZZ-ZZZ1-ZZZ2. WHILE ENRTE; I SENT A MAINT MSG VIA ACARS REFUSING ACFT FOR THE NEXT FLT; AND INCLUDED BOTH CAPT'S NAMES. UPON ARR AT ZZZ1; AFTER EXITING INTO THE TERMINAL; I SPOKE WITH A CAPT AT AN ADJACENT PODIUM WHO WAS PRINTING HIS FLT PAPERS. HE TOLD ME HE JUST REFUSED AN ACFT FOR A WING ANTI-ICE DEFERRAL -- THE PLANE WE HAD JUST BROUGHT IN. OUR ACFT WAS ALREADY BEING SHOPPED AROUND. THE NEXT DAY; I WANTED TO SEE IF OUR ORIGINAL ACFT REFUSAL WAS LISTED ON THE LOG HISTORY FOR THE ACFT -- IT WAS NOT. THERE WAS NO RECORD OF MY REFUSAL OR THE CAPT'S IN ZZZ1: THESE REFUSALS ARE BEING SCRUBBED FROM THE MAINT HISTORIES AND HIDDEN FROM FOLLOW-ON CAPTS; EVEN WHEN SENT VIA ACARS. WHEN I FLT PLAN FOR A FLT AND LOOK OVER THE ACFT MAINT HISTORY; I WANT EVERY PIECE OF PERTINENT INFO ABOUT THE PLANE; AND THIS DEFINITELY WOULD INCLUDE WHETHER A CREW HAD JUST TURNED DOWN THE ACFT. OUR FLT OPS' SAFETY MARGIN IS STEADILY ERODING AND 'CAPT'S AUTH' IS A MEANINGLESS PHRASE OUT ON THE LINE.
