A319 FLT CREW ADVISED THE COMPANY THAT THEY COULD NOT CONTINUE DUE TO FATIGUE. THIS MISCONNECT RESULTED IN AN ADDITIONAL 2 DAYS OF FLYING; WHICH LEFT THE FLT CREW EVEN MORE FATIGUED.

Narrative

ORIGINALLY A 4-DAY SCHEDULE. DAY 2 STARTED WITH ZZZ-ZZZ1-ZZZ2-ZZZ1-ZZZ3 THEN SCHEDULE FOR A 32-HR LAYOVER. ON FLT ZZZ2-ZZZ1; THERE WE WERE PUT IN HOLDING ON THE ARR DUE TO A LINE OF TSTMS OVER ZZZ1. WE HELD FOR APPROX 45 MINS AND THEN WE GOT A RERTE. BY THE TIME WE LANDED BACK TO ZZZ1; OUR FLT TIME FOR THE DAY WAS ABOUT 8 HRS 30 MINS. THE CAPT AND I WERE EXHAUSTED. THE CAPT CALLED SCHEDULING ON OUR BEHALF AND TOLD THEM WE WILL NOT BE FLYING TO ZZZ3 DUE TO FATIGUE. THEY QUESTIONED IT SAYING THAT WE HAD PLENTY OF DUTY TIME LEFT. HE TOLD THEM ONCE AGAIN -- WE ARE FATIGUED. SO WE WERE RELEASED FOR THE EVENING. I WENT TO THE HOTEL AND THE PLAN WAS FOR US TO DEADHEAD TO ZZZ3 THE NEXT DAY AND PICK UP THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP. I GOT A CALL FROM SCHEDULING SAYING WE ARE BEING REASSIGNED AND NOW FLYING TO ZZZ4 AND TO DEADHEAD BACK THE NEXT DAY. WHEN I ARRIVED TO THE HOTEL; I RECEIVED A CALL STATING THAT I NOW HAVE 2 MORE ADDITIONAL DAYS OF FLYING (FOR A TOTAL OF A 6-DAY TRIP) FOR A TOTAL SCHEDULED FOR TIME OF 29 HRS 34 MINS. BY THE END OF THIS 6-DAY SCHEDULE; I WAS MENTALLY WIPED OUT. TOO MUCH FLYING AFTER A COUPLE REASSIGNMENTS. EXTREMELY MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY FATIGUING.
