Narrative
I ATTEMPTED TO TAKE OFF. AFTER REACHING 65-68 KTS; I ATTEMPTED TO LIFT OFF; L WING DIPPED; STALL WARNING SOUNDED. I DECIDED TO ABORT THE TKOF; I CUT THROTTLE; SET DOWN; APPLIED BRAKES; OVERSHOT END OF RWY INTO GRASS AND MUD APPROX 75 FT. WITH HELP; PUSHED/PULLED PLANE BACK ONTO RWY. WHAT I BELIEVE HAPPENED: THE RWY IS 2400 FT BY 35 FT; RWY HAS A SLIGHT UPHILL TO ABOUT THE 2/3 POINT. I WAS TAKING OFF AT FULL WT. ON THE PA28; THE TKOF DISTANCE WAS CALCULATED TO BE ABOUT 1600 FT. (70 DEGS F; 3 KT XWIND; 740 FT MSL.) AT ABOUT 1800 FT; I REACHED 65-68 KTS. AT THE TIME I ROTATED; WAS WHERE THE LAST BUILDING ON THE FIELD IS; AND THE XWIND MAY HAVE SWIRLED INTO A TAILWIND. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS MAY HAVE BEEN WATER PUDDLES ON RWY AND THE ARCHED RWY; NOT ENOUGH SPD. I MAY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO LIFT OFF IF I HAD KEPT ON THE GND ROLL TILL I REACHED 70-75 KTS; BUT BY THEN I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF RWY; TURNING A 30 KT GRASS/MUD MESS INTO MUCH WORSE. MY OTHER OPTION WOULD HAVE BEEN TO EXECUTE A SHORT FIELD PROC; BUT WITH A 2400 FT FIELD AND CALCULATED GND ROLL OF 1600 FT; I DECIDED NOT TO DO THAT; AS I DIDN'T WANT TO INCREASE DRAG AT MAX WT WITH AN ARCHED RWY; AND I HAVE TAKEN OFF FROM 2400 FT FIELDS BEFORE AROUND MY HOME AREA WITH NO PROBS; ALTHOUGH THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME WITH THIS ACFT AND AT THIS FIELD.
