MD80 FLT CREW EXPERIENCES MULTIPLE RIGHT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM POWERED ANOMALIES JUST PRIOR TO DESCENT. DECLARE EMERGENCY AND LAND AT DESTINATION IN VMC. ANOMALY WARNINGS CEASE WHEN RIGHT ENGINE IS SHUT DOWN.

Narrative

JUST PRIOR TO DSCNT; WE GOT A WARNING FOR FLAP OVERSPEED AND THEN NUMEROUS OTHER WARNINGS. THE AUTOPLT AND AUTOTHROTTLES FAILED. THE FO'S INSTS FAILED AND WE COULD HEAR SWITCHING NOISES IN THE CIRCUIT BREAKER PANEL. A CHK OF THE ELECTRICAL PANEL SHOWED NORMAL VOLTS AND FREQS FOR BOTH GENERATORS AND THERE WAS NO STEADY WARNING LIGHT ON. THERE WERE NUMEROUS WARNINGS; BOTH AURAL AND VISUAL; GOING OFF CONTINUOUSLY. WE DECLARED AN EMER AND BEGAN OUR DSCNT INTO ZZZ. THE ACFT CONFIGURED NORMALLY AND WE FLEW AN ILS APCH. AFTER LNDG; WE SHUT DOWN THE R ENG AND THE WARNINGS ENDED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE CAPTAIN ADVISED THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A SINGLE PHASE (OF THREE) FAILURE OF THE RIGHT GENERATOR. VOLTAGE AND FREQUENCY REMAINED NORMAL BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT SENSED FROM THE FAILED PHASE. REPORTER ADVISED THEY ELECTED NOT TO COMMUNICATE WITH COMPANY MAINT BECAUSE DOING SO WOULD HAVE REQUIRED LEAVING ATC ON THE ONE WORKING COM RADIO AND BECAUSE LNDG WAS IMMINENT.
