Narrative
ON TAXI IN TO GATE THE GND MARSHALLER GAVE THE STOP SIGNAL PRIOR TO REACHING THE GATE. WE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE ACFT AND SEARCHED FOR ANY OBSTRUCTIONS TO OUR PATH. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS OF ANY PROBS INSIDE THE COCKPIT. RAMP TWR INFORMED US OF A POSSIBLE FIRE ON THE R MAIN GEAR. WE DISCUSSED EVAC BUT WANTED CONFIRMATION. BOTH ENGS WERE SHUT DOWN AND I PROCEEDED TO THE CABIN TO CONFIRM THE PROB. I DID NOT OBSERVE ANY FIRE FROM THE CABIN BUT NOTICED WHITE SMOKE DISSIPATING FROM THE AREA. I INFORMED THE CAPT OF MY FINDINGS. BY THE TIME I RETURNED TO THE COCKPIT A MECH HAD INFORMED THE CAPT THAT THERE WAS NO FIRE. THE FIRE TRUCKS WERE ROLLED FOR PRECAUTIONARY REASONS. THE ACFT WAS SECURED AND TOWED TO THE GATE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 789795: TURNING INTO GATE I WAS ON FLT INTERPHONE. FO ADVISED FIRE SPOTTED IN L MAIN BY PEOPLE MOVER DRIVER. MARSHALL GAVE STOP SIGNAL. WE STOPPED. I CAME UP ON RAMP SENT RELIEF PLT INTO CABIN TO LOOK. ATC SAID IT WAS SMOKE COMING FROM L WHEEL AREA. WE ROLLED THE FIRE TRUCKS TO INVESTIGATE AND TRIED TO SEE IF IT WAS SMOKE OR FIRE. #1 BRAKE LINE SPRUNG A LEAK ON THE BRAKES; DRIPPED ON BRAKES. RAMP ASSURED US THERE WAS NO FIRE. WE WERE DETERMINING IF AN EVAC WAS NECESSARY; BUT NO FIRE MEANT NO EVAC TO US. MAINT ROLLED A PORTABLE EXTINGUISHER AND SPRAYED THE GEAR DOWN. LNDG WAS MADE BY FO AND BRAKE TEMP ONLY REACHED LEVEL 4. WE WERE THEN TOWED INTO THE GATE. DURING THIS EVENT I MADE NO LESS THAN 5 PA'S AND WE COORDINATED WITH THE PURSER WHOSE PROFESSIONALISM KEPT ALL DOORS ARMED UNTIL WE BLOCKED IN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 789981: AFTER NORMAL LNDG AND TAXI IN TO RAMP; CAPT WAS TURNING INTO GATE WHEN GUIDE MAN SIGNALED FOR US TO STOP. RAMP TWR ADVISED WE HAD POSSIBLE FIRE ON L MAIN LNDG GEAR. THEY THEN CONFIRMED IT WAS JUST SMOKE. RELIEF PLT WENT BACK AND CONFIRMED NO FIRE. WE DISCUSSED EVAC BUT WERE ASSURED BY RAMP THERE WAS NO FIRE. A MECH SPRAYED A WHEELED FIRE BOTTLE ON THE GEAR AND CAME UP ON FLT INTERPHONE TO SAY HYD FLUID WAS LEAKING ONTO THE FORWARD L BRAKE CAUSING THE SMOKE. OAT 34 DEGS C. AFTER SECURING ENGS AND ALL HYDS THE WHEELS WERE CHOCKED AND WE WERE TOWED INTO THE GATE. PAX LEFT THROUGH THE JETWAY. BRAKE WAS READING '4' ON A HOT DAY.
