B737-300 FLT CREW REPORTS COMPRESSOR STALLS AND LOW SPEED REJECTED TKOF.

Narrative

ON TKOF FROM ZZZ APPROX 40-60 KIAS; FO SELECTED TOGA AND THROTTLES RESPONDED NORMALLY WITH TARGET TKOF N1 OF 95.1. AS THE ENGS ACCELERATED SYMMETRICALLY TO TARGET N1; A SERIES OF RAPID; LOUD BANGS WERE HEARD; A PRONOUNCED YAW TO THE R WAS OBSERVED AND FELT; AND I TOOK CTL OF THE AIRPLANE. I ANNOUNCED THAT WE WERE ABORTING TKOF AND TOLD THE FO TO ADVISE THE TWR. I NOTICED AN INCREASED EGT (APPROX 725 DEGS C) ON THE #2 ENG; FELT VIBRATION AS THE ENG SPOOLED DOWN; AND SAW THE OIL TEMP WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE L ENG. AN ACFT HOLDING SHORT OF THE RWY BEHIND US RADIOED THAT WE HAD 'PRETTY GOOD FLAMES' COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE ENG. THE FO ACKNOWLEDGED THE RPT ON VHF #1 AND I MADE A PA TELLING THE PAX TO REMAIN SEATED. I EXITED THE RWY; AND WE ASKED FOR FIRE EQUIP TO MEET THE JET FOR OBSERVATION. THERE WAS NEVER ANY FIRE OR OVERHEAT INDICATIONS IN THE COCKPIT. WE QUICKLY DISCUSSED THE SITUATION AND INDICATIONS AND I CALLED FOR THE ENG FIRE/SEVERE DAMAGE/SEPARATION CHKLIST; WHICH THE FO COMPLETED. AFTER THE FIRE DEPT CLRED THE ACFT; AND AFTER COORD WITH ZZZ MAINT AND RAMP TWR; WE RETURNED TO THE GATE UNEVENTFULLY AND ACCOMPLISHED A NORMAL DEPLANING OF THE PAX AND CREW.
