BE36 PLT BEGINS TKOF ROLL ON RWY 32 WHEN ACTUALLY CLEARED FOR TKOF ON 14. PLT NOTICES MISTAKE AND ABORTS TKOF.

Narrative

RECEIVED CLRNC; CONTACTED GND; ACCEPTED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO RWY 14; D1 INTXN. TAXIED TO INTXN; CONTACTED TWR; AND REPEATED HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS. TWR CTLR WAS HANDLING OTHER ARRS AND DEPS; AND WHILE WAITING I SET HDG BUG TO 140 DEGS FOR ASSIGNED HDG. ANOTHER BONANZA WAS ISSUED TKOF FROM AN INTXN ON RWY 32. I WATCHED THIS ACFT DEPART AND AFTER IT WAS AIRBORNE WAS GIVEN TKOF INSTRUCTIONS TO DEPART ON RWY 14; NO DELAY. AFTER HAVING JUST WATCHED THE OTHER ACFT DEPART ON THE SAME RWY; I INADVERTENTLY TURNED R ONTO RWY 32 INSTEAD OF L ON RWY 14. AFTER REACHING ABOUT 50 KTS I SAW THE HDG BUG IN THE WRONG PLACE AND BEGAN PULLING PWR AND BRAKING. THE CTLR THEN NOTIFIED ME I WAS PROCEEDING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. MODERATE BRAKING WAS REQUIRED AND ROLLOUT WAS UNDER CTL AND A TURN ONTO LAST TXWY COULD HAVE BEEN MADE. CTLR ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO TURN AROUND ON RWY AND HOLD SHORT ON RWY 14 AWAITING ARRIVING TFC ON AN INTERSECTING RWY. TKOF CLRNC WAS ISSUED AND A NORMAL DEP FROM RWY 14 WAS MADE. CTLR'S INSTRUCTIONS WERE CLR AND I SIMPLY MADE THE MISTAKE OF FOLLOWING THE PREVIOUS DEP. IT IS UNUSUAL TO HAVE DEPS IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS ESPECIALLY AT TWR ARPTS.
