AN A319 FLT CREW EXPERIENCED ECAM FCU 1 AND FCU 2. THEY COORDINATED WITH MAINT AND DISPATCH; SUCCESSFULLY RESETTING FCU 1. REPORTER WAS UNHAPPY WITH THE QUALITY OF HELP HE GOT FROM MAINT.

Narrative

GOT AN FCU 1 AND FCU 2 FAILURE ECAM. AUTOPLT KICKED OFF. EXACT ALT UNCERTAIN DUE TO FAILURE. DEV OF UP TO +500 FT POSSIBLE AS INDICATED BY STANDBY ALTIMETER. ALSO POSSIBLE NAV EFFORT OF UNCERTAIN DISTANCE DUE TO FAILURE. EVENTUALLY WENT DIRECT TO ZZZ AND BACK ON COURSE. WE RPTED ALL POSSIBLE ERRORS TO ATC AND GOT A CLRNC OUT OF RVSM AIRSPACE DUE TO FAULT BECAUSE PFD ALT WAS UNRELIABLE. OBTAINED SATISFACTORY HELP FROM DISPATCH; COMPANY MAINT CONCERNING DIVERT AND WX OPTIONS. THE ACFT RECOVERED FCU 1 BUT DID NOT RECOVER FCU 2. MAINT THROUGH COMMERCIAL RADIO WAS OF MINIMUM HELP. HE GAVE US INSTRUCTIONS FOR A RESET OF FCU 2 WHICH WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. ACR MAINT HAD VERY LITTLE TO ADD. I WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE COMFORTABLE SPEAKING WITH A HIGHLY MOTIVATED AND COMPETENT REPRESENTATIVE OF AIRBUS INSTEAD OF WHAT SEEMED A MINIMUM EFFORT BACKED BY MINIMUM EXPERTISE FROM A SEEMINGLY DEMORALIZED ACR MAINT BUREAUCRAT. I NEED REAL; HIGHLY MOTIVATED HELP WHEN THINGS GO BAD. IT IS MY TICKET ON THE LINE AND THE SAFE CARE OF 125 PAX AND CREW WHO RELY ON ME. I NEED THE ABSOLUTE BEST HELP AND INFO POSSIBLE. I DO NOT FEEL I RECEIVED IT.
