GA INSTRUCTOR HAS SUGGESTION FOR PLACEMENT OF HOLD LINE AT LEX.

Narrative

WHILE MY STUDENT AND I WERE ON TXWY A AND WERE COMPLYING WITH A TAXI CLRNC AT BLUE GRASS ARPT (LEX) TO 'TAXI TO THE RAMP VIA A AND C;' THE GND CTLR SUBSEQUENTLY ISSUED A SECOND CLRNC TO 'HOLD SHORT OF TXWY C ON A.' BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT; I MONITORED AS MY STUDENT PROCEEDED UP TXWY A AND HE WAS APPLYING BRAKES WHEN THE GND CTLR REMINDED US TO 'HOLD SHORT OF TXWY C ON A' A SECOND TIME. WE STOPPED ABOUT 100 FT PRIOR TO TXWY C ABEAM THE CRASH/RESCUE BUILDING. SINCE WE WERE PROMPTED A SECOND TIME TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY C ON A; IT GAVE US CAUSE TO INVESTIGATE IF THERE WAS A SPECIFIC HOLD SHORT LINE WHERE BOTH PLTS AND CTLRS WOULD KNOW PRECISELY WHERE ACFT WOULD BE EXPECTED STOP AND HOLD SHORT. NO HOLD SHORT LINES WERE IN EVIDENCE. NOTE: ALL GA TFC MUST PROCEED ON TXWY C TO AND FROM THE RWYS/GA PARKING AT LEX; SO IT IS ROUTINE FOR INCOMING ACFT TO BE DIRECTED TO HOLD SHORT UNTIL OUTBOUND TFC CLRS TXWY C. GIVEN THE FREQUENT NEED TO STOP PRIOR TO TXWY C ON TXWY A; I THEREFORE RECOMMEND THAT THE ARPT PAINT A HOLD SHORT LINE ON EACH SIDE OF TXWY C ON TXWY A. A LITTLE PAINT WOULD ELIMINATE THE UNCERTAINTY ON THE PART OF THE GND CTLR. WHERE IS HE GOING TO STOP?
