Narrative
I WAS DEPARTING ADAMS FIELD IN LITTLE ROCK; AR. I HAD RECEIVED MY VFR CLRNC AND HAD TAXIED TO THE HOLD LINE AT THE END OF RWY 36. WHILE STILL MONITORING GND CTL FREQ WHILE GOING THROUGH MY PRE-TKOF CHKLIST AND ENG RUN-UP; I WAS TOLD BY THE TWR TO IMMEDIATELY CROSS RWY 36. (I HAD NOT GONE TO TWR FREQ AND STATED READY FOR TKOF BECAUSE I WAS NOT READY AT THE TIME.) AS I LOOKED OUT ON FINAL; I NOTICED AN ACFT ON FINAL APCH. I HESITATED AT THE TWR'S COMMAND TO CROSS RWY 36. AT THAT TIME I WAS TOLD TO IMMEDIATELY CROSS RWY 36; SO I PROCEEDED. AS I PROCEEDED; TWR TOLD ME TO MAKE IMMEDIATE DEP ON RWY 4L (AN ADJACENT RWY). AS I LOOKED BACK TO THE ACFT ON FINAL; I DID NOT THINK IT WAS SAFE TO TRY AND TAKE OFF; LET ALONE THE FACT I HAD NOT COMPLETED CHKLIST; RUN-UP; AND TURNED TO TWR FREQ AND TOLD TWR I WAS READY FOR TKOF. SO I PROCEEDED TO CROSS RWY 4L TO OPPOSITE TXWY. I HAD NOT RESPONDED TO TWR'S REQUEST TO DEPART RWY 4L UNTIL I HAD CROSSED TO TXWY BECAUSE THIS WAS HAPPENING VERY FAST AND I WAS CONCENTRATING ON CLRING THE THRESHOLD DUE TO ACFT ON CLOSE FINAL. I DON'T THINK THIS WAS EVEN CLOSE TO HAVE BECOMING AN INCIDENT; BUT COM FROM TWR TO MY ACFT WERE VERY CONFUSING.
