A B737 CAPT REPORTED THAT NEW MUD DAUBER PROCEDURES ARE NOT BEING COMPLIED WITH AND COULD CAUSE OPERATIONAL PROBLEMS.

A B737 CAPT REPORTED THAT NEW MUD DAUBER PROCEDURES ARE NOT BEING COMPLIED WITH AND COULD CAUSE OPERATIONAL PROBLEMS.

Narrative

THE NEW MUD DAUBER PROC IS A MESS AND SOMEONE WILL GET IN TROUBLE! WE ARRIVED AT OUR ACFT AND DURING MY COCKPIT PREFLT; I ASKED THE FO IF WE HAD THE PITOT COVERS IN PLACE AS DESCRIBED ON THE WX PACKET AND IN RECENT FLT BULLETIN. I NOTICED WE HAD NO STREAMER OR RED PLATE ON THE YOKE AS DESCRIBED IN THE FLT BULLETIN. HE SAID YES THEY WERE THERE. SINCE THERE WAS A SUPVR READILY AVAILABLE; I CALLED AND HAD HIM COME TO THE GATE. I EXPLAINED THE ISSUE THAT I HAD AND HE WENT TO CHK ON IT. HE RETURNED AND HANDED ME THE STREAMER AND PLATE. HE THEN EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY WERE HAVING PROBS ADAPTING TO THE NEW PROC AND THAT THE OPS AGENT WAS MAXED OUT. I TOLD HIM THAT WAS NICE BUT THIS ISN'T GOING TO WORK. WE APPLIED THE ITEMS PER THE FLT BULLETIN. NOW THE OPS AGENT COMES IN AND TOSSES US THE PAPERWORK AND LEAVES. HE CLOSES THE ACFT DOOR AND PULLS THE JETWAY AWAY. A RAMPER MOVES A LADDER UP TO THE R SIDE OF THE ACFT AND THEN THE OTHER. HE THEN MOVES IT AWAY AND NEVER SHOWS US THE PITOT COVERS. I SEE SOME COVERS HANGING FROM THE LADDER BUT HAVE NO IDEA IF THEY WERE THERE BEFORE OR HOW MANY OF THEM THERE ARE. AT THIS POINT I ALSO STILL HAVE THE RED PLATE AND STREAMER. I AM STARTING TO THINK ABOUT TAKING THEM WITH US TO ZZZ BUT DECIDE TO SHOW THEM TO THE OPS AGENT AND TOSS THEM TO HIM INSTEAD. I CONFIRMED WITH THE PUSHBACK CREW THAT THE COVERS WERE REMOVED AND WE DEPARTED UNEVENTFULLY. THIS WAS THE THIRD DAY OF DOING THIS AND GND OPS DIDN'T GET ONE OF THE STEPS DONE CORRECTLY.
