Synopsis

A MECHANIC IS INFORMED AN OFF-WING ESCAPE SLIDE INFLATION CABLE AND REGULATOR LANYARD SHOULD BE REPLACED ON A B767; AFTER THEY ACCIDENTALLY DISCHARGED THE RIGHT FORWARD OFF-WING SQUIBS WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.

Narrative

I BECAME AWARE THAT AN OFF-WING ESCAPE INFLATION CABLE AND THE REGULATOR LANYARD SHOULD BE REPLACED ON A B767; IF THE OFF-WING ESCAPE SYS OPERATED WITH THE REGULATOR SAFETY PIN INSTALLED. I WAS A PART OF A 2-PERSON TEAM ASSIGNED TO ARM THE OFF-WING ESCAPE SYS ON THE 767. THE FIRST PORTION OF THE WORK CARD WAS ACCOMPLISHED; DOWNSTAIRS; WITH NO ISSUES. WHEN WE STARTED TO DO THE UPSTAIRS PORTION OF THE WORK CARD; THE R FORWARD WAS ACCIDENTALLY DISLODGED BY MY PARTNER. AS A RESULT; WE HEARD THE SQUIBS DISCHARGE. I INITIATED A NON-ROUTINE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE R SPOILER OVERRIDE ACTUATOR; THE R SLIDE INFLATION CYLINDER; AND THE R COMPARTMENT DOOR-OPENING ACTUATOR. I NOW REALIZE THAT I SHOULD HAVE CREATED A NON-ROUTINE STATING THAT THE OFF-WING ESCAPE SYS WAS INADVERTENTLY OPERATED WITH THE REGULAR SAFETY PIN INSTALLED. MOST OF THE WORK WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY OTHER MECHS; BUT I DID ACCOMPLISH THE RIG OF THE R OFF-WING COMPARTMENT DOOR-OPENING ACTUATOR. THEREFORE; I NEVER SAW THE CAUTION FOR REPLACING THE CABLE AND LANYARD I DO NOT KNOW IF THE CABLES WERE WRITTEN UP OR CHANGED AT THIS TIME. CHK ACFT RECORDS TO SEE IF CORRECT MAINT OCCURRED. IF NOT; REPLACE OFF-WING SLIDE CABLES ASAP.
