A MECHANIC REPORTS HE WAS COERCED AND INTIMIDATED BY A MAINT SUPERVISOR TO SIGN FOR MAINT WORK ON A PW-2000 ENGINE PERFORMED BY ANOTHER MECHANIC WHOSE SIGNOFF STAMP WAS NOT LEGIBLE.

Narrative

DURING THE MEETING; SUPVR XXX CLAIMED THAT I WAS THE TRAINER AND THAT THE OTHER MECH'S STAMP WAS NOT LEGIBLE AND HE WANTED ME TO STAMP HIS WORK ON HIS BEHALF. I POINTED OUT THAT IT IS NOT FAIR FOR HIM TO CLAIM THAT I WAS THE TRAINER WHEN IN FACT 1) HE WAS NOT THERE; 2) I AM NOT A TRAINER; AND 3) I WAS NEVER UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT I WAS THE TRAINER. XXXXX COMMENTED THAT THIS COULD BE AN EASY SOLUTION UNDER HIS WORK AREA; THE LEAD OR SUPVR CAN DO THE STAMPING TO WHICH XXX REFUSED. BECAUSE I INSISTED I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE STAMPING SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK. THEN HE SUGGESTED THAT HE CAN PUT IN WRITING ON THE L COLUMN 'WORK PERFORMED BY ANOTHER MECH.' I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD PREFER THAT HE PUT DOWN ALSO THAT I WAS ADVISED BY HIM TO STAMP; BUT HE SAID 'NO.' HE PROCEEDED TO WRITE DOWN WORK PERFORMED BY ANOTHER MECH.' HE THEN STAMPED IT; AND I STAMPED IT AND ALSO TOLD ME TO STAMP ON THE R COLUMN AS WELL. I ASKED XXX FOR A COPY; HE REFUSED. I WAS INTIMIDATED AND COERCED TO SIGN. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: REPORTER STATED AN INTERNAL INVESTIGATION AND AUDIT BY THEIR QUALITY ASSURANCE GROUP LATER DETERMINED THE MAINT SUPERVISOR'S BEHAVIOR REQUIRING HIM TO SIGN FOR OTHER MECHANIC'S WORK WAS UNETHICAL AND UNLAWFUL.
