A BEECH V35 PILOT LANDED GEAR UP BECAUSE HE DID NOT COMPLETE THE GUMPS CHECKLIST WHILE SMOOTHING A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE PRIOR TO LANDING.

Narrative

ON LNDG AT ZZZ WITH A BEECHCRAFT V35; THE GEAR WAS UP. ENTERED PATTERN IN VFR CONDITIONS WITH GOOD VISIBILITY FOR LNDG ON RWY 3. WENT THROUGH CHKLIST (GUMPS) BUT WAS DISTR BY ENG RUNNING A LITTLE TOO ROUGH AND ADJUSTED MIXTURE TO SMOOTH OUT ENG; THEN ADJUSTED PROP. FORGOT TO PUT GEAR DOWN. GUMPS MEANS: GAS; UNDERCARRIAGE; MIXTURE; PROP; SEATBELTS. I DID GAS -- ENG RAN A LITTLE ROUGH FROM PULLING THROTTLE BACK TO SLOW DOWN. ADJUSTED MIXTURE SKIPPING UNDERCARRIAGE (GEAR); DID PROP. BEECHCRAFT BONANZA HAS AN AUDIBLE ALARM THAT GOES OFF IF THE MANIFOLD PRESSURE GOES BELOW 12. THIS ALARM DID NOT GO OFF AS THE PLANE SLOWED AND MANIFOLD PRESSURE WAS REDUCED WELL BELOW 12. DISTR OF ROUGH CAUSED THE THOUGHT THAT GEAR DOWN HAD BEEN DONE BECAUSE MIXTURE COMES AFTER UNDER CARRIAGE IN GUMPS. WILL USE WRITTEN CHKLIST IN FUTURE AND THE WORD G-GUMPS. G-GEAR; G-GAS; U-UNDERCARRIAGE (3 GREEN LIGHTS); M-MIXTURE; P-PROP; S-SEATBELTS. THIS WILL GIVE 2 TIMES TO GET THE GEAR DOWN PROPERLY. WILL CHK THIS GEAR ALARM INFLT MORE OFTEN TO MAKE SURE IT REMAINS IN ADJUSTMENT.
