AFTER TROUBLESHOOTING A WIRING PROBLEM OF AN A320 FIRST OFFICER'S SLIDING WINDOW; FINISHING THE WINDOW CHANGE; COMPLETING THE PAPERWORK AND CLEARING THE MEL DEFERRAL; A MECHANIC IS INFORMED THE INCORRECT WINDOW WAS INSTALLED.

Narrative

I WAS ASSIGNED ACFT X FO'S SLIDING WINDOW REPLACEMENT. MYSELF AND MR X PROCEEDED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE WIRING AND CHANGED A CANNON PLUG ON THE WINDOW. I WORKED OVERTIME ON DAY SHIFT AND CONTINUED WORK ON ACFT X WITH MR Y. THE LEAD TOLD US TO CONTINUE TROUBLESHOOTING THE WIRING. AT XA30 WE DETERMINED IT WAS A WINDOW CHANGE. MR Y AND I STARTED TO GET THE WINDOW READY FOR REMOVAL. AT XE00 IT WAS TURNED OVER TO SECOND SHIFT. 2 OTHER TECHNICIANS REMOVED; INSTALLED; AND RIGGED THE WINDOW. WHEN I RETURNED FOR MY NEXT SHIFT (THIRD); I WAS ASSIGNED TO FINISH WITH MR Z. WE FINISHED INSTALLING TRIM AND COCKPIT FURNISHINGS AND PANEL AND I COMPLETED THE PAPERWORK AND CLRED THE MEL. APPARENTLY SOMEONE CONTACTED ZZZ LINE MAINT AND TOLD US TO CHANGE WINDOW. WHEN I WAS TOLD THE ACFT HAD WRONG PART INSTALLED; I FILLED OUT THIS ASRS FORM. THE ACFT WAS STOPPED TONIGHT IN ZZZ. LINE MAINT TO REPLACE THE FO'S SLIDING WINDOW. SOMEONE (PROBABLY MAINT CTL) PROGRAMMED THE WRONG PART FOR THAT ACFT IN THE WORK RELEASE ITEM. THAT PART WAS PREORDERED AND BROUGHT OUT TO THE PLANE TO BE INSTALLED. WE NEED A PLANNER FOR ZZZ LINE MAINT THIRD SHIFT.
