B737NG SUFFERS APPARENT FUEL LEAK IN RIGHT ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM. SHUT DOWN ENGINE AND DIVERT PER QRH CHECKLISTS.
Narrative
CRUISE FLIGHT AT FL390. NOTICED AN IMBALANCE IN THE RIGHT SIDE. STARTED TO CROSSFEED OFF THE LEFT SIDE AND ALSO NOTICED THAT WE WERE UNABLE TO BALANCE THE TANKS. THE RIGHT ENGINE WAS BEING FED BY THE LEFT TANK BUT WE WERE STILL UNABLE TO BALANCE THE 2 TANKS; AS THE RIGHT TANK WAS STILL DECREASING. WE WENT TO OUR QRH FOR THE ENGINE FUEL LEAK PROCEDURE. THE QRH HAD US GO THROUGH A COUPLE OF PROCEDURES TO TRY AND CONFIRM WHAT WE WERE SEEING. THE CAPTAIN AND MYSELF AGREED WE WERE LOSING FUEL SOMEWHERE AND THE QRH HAD US SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN TO STOP THE LEAK. WE WERE AT FL390 AND JUST OVER 100 MILES EAST OF ZZZ. I CHECKED THE WEATHER AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH CENTER AND PROCEEDED TO ZZZ. THE APPROACH AND LANDING WERE UNEVENTFUL AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. CFR WAS STANDING BY AND CONFIRMED WE WERE NOT LEAKING ANY FUEL AFTER WE LANDED. THEY FOLLOWED US TO THE GATE AND AGAIN CHECKED US OUT. ALL IN ALL; THIS WAS A PRETTY UNEVENTFUL EMERGENCY. VERY CONTROLLED AND THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS DID A GREAT JOB GETTING THE PASSENGERS READY.
