Synopsis
An EMB-145 pilot reports that after repeated maintenance entries for a loud noise from the Captain's windows; maintenance found numerous loose screws in the Captain's forward windshield.
Narrative
Flight ABCD was my first flight in Aircraft X this day. When I arrived at the aircraft; Maintenance was working on the Captain's DV window. Previous flight crew had written up a loud squeal coming from the Captain's windows (Captain's windows was plural). The logbook was signed off as 'Re-secured Seal on Captain's DV Window Seal.' Had Maintenance Control had the Mechanic look at the Captain's front windscreen; they would have found numerous loose screws on the Captain's front windscreen. They just tried to get the plane out and did not take the time to fix the real problem and did not investigate fully. Looking at the signoff; I thought they checked the front windscreen as well and only found the DV window seal as the problem. Maintenance told me they found numerous screws loose on the Captain's front windscreen in ZZZ. After writing the Captain's front windscreen up in ZZZ; Maintenance found numerous loose screws in the Captain's front windscreen and fixed the problem. Maintenance did not look at the Captain's front windscreen in ZZZ1. Had they looked at it in ZZZ1 they would have found numerous loose screws on the front windscreen in ZZZ1.
