Narrative
I WAS CLRED FOR A MIDFIELD DEP OFF RWY 9R. I ACKNOWLEDGED AND READ BACK MY TKOF CLRNC. AS I STARTED MY ROLL; I WAS SCANNING MY INSTRUMENTS. WHEN MY SCAN REACHED MY COMPASS AND DG; I REALIZED I HAD BEGUN MY ROLL TO THE W. AT THE SAME TIME I WAS PULLING BACK THE PWR; THE CTLR SAID; 'CANCEL YOUR TKOF CLRNC AND CLR THE RWY.' AFTER 1 ARR HAD LANDED; I WAS AGAIN CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 9R. AT NO TIME DID I LEAVE THE GND; NOR DID THE CTLR OR MYSELF MENTION THAT MY ROLL WAS BEGUN IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. I ACCEPTED MY TAXI CLRNC TO RWY 9R. DURING TAXI; THE GND CTLR SAID I COULD HAVE AN INTXN DEP. FROM THE POS OF OUR GATES ON THE FIELD; I HAVE RARELY BEEN GIVEN A TAXI CLRNC TO RWY 9R WHEN MIA IS ON AN E OP. HOWEVER; ON A W OP; I AM OFTEN GIVEN RWY 27L. I SUCCUMBED TO HUMAN ERROR OF HABIT BY FACING THE W. HAD I NEVER ALLOWED MYSELF AN INTXN DEP WITH ADEQUATE RWY LENGTH IN THE WRONG DIRECTION; THIS MISTAKE WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. BECAUSE OF A SHORTAGE OF PLTS WITHIN OUR COMPANY; I AM UTILIZED HEAVILY. I KNOW THAT OFTEN I AM TIRED AND CONTINUOUSLY TRY TO WATCH FOR FACTORS THAT LEAD TO MISTAKES. ON THE PARTICULAR MORNING THIS OCCURRED; MY JUDGEMENT WAS NOT PRECISE; AND I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ALERT TO THE ENVIRONMENT.
