ACR-LGT IS GIVEN PREMATURE CLIMB CLRNC AND OVERTAKES ACR-MLG RESULTING IN LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION.

Narrative

MLG X ORD TO ROC AND LGT Y; ORD TO ALB; CLBING E FROM ORD VIA KEELER VOR TO SALEM AND CARLETON VOR. MLG X WAS CLBED TO FL270 (REQUESTING FL330). LGT Y CLRED TO FL270 PRIOR TO MLG X BEING CLRED TO CLB ABOVE FL270. LGT Y BEING FASTER CAUGHT MLG X RESULTING IN 4 MI SEP INSTEAD OF 5 MI OR MORE. TRNING WAS IN PROGRESS ON BOTH THE RADAR AND THE MANUAL POSITIONS. APPROX 13-15 ACFT WERE ON THE FREQ AND WERE INVOLVED IN 9 SEPARATE NECESSARY COORDINATES. THE MANUAL MAN SPOTTED THE OVERTAKE AS THE 5 MI LIMIT WAS BROKEN JUST AS THE C/A SYS ACTIVATED. MLG X WAS ISSUED CLB TO FL280; EXPEDITE; CLB AND LGT Y WAS ISSUED A TURN 20 DEGS TO THE LEFT. THE SUPVR HAD PREVIOUSLY ASKED IF WE NEEDED A HDOF MAN. AT THAT TIME WE DID NOT NEED ADDITIONAL HELP WITH 4 PEOPLE AT THE SECTOR. SUBSEQUENT COORD ARISING RESULTING IN LGT Y BEING ISSUED FL270 PRIOR TO MLG X BEING ISSUED A CLB FIRST. 7-8 AM IS THE NORMAL E DEP RUSH PERIOD; BUT 9 SIMULTANEOUS COORDINATES IS UNUSUAL. I BELIEVE THE TRNING; WAITING TO SEE IF THE TRNEE HAS A PLAN AND EXECUTES THE PLAN; VERSUS AND FPL PREPLANNING FAR ENOUGH AHEAD NOT ALLOWING SITUATIONS TO DEVELOP AND THE DEMANDS OF COORDINATING WITH 6 OTHER SECTORS ON 9 XING ACFT (OTHER THAN NORMAL E DEP RUSH PERIOD ACFT) RESULTED IN LGT Y BEING CLRED UP OUT OF SEQUENCE WITH MLG X. ONCE A SITUATION DEVELOPS IT IS TOO LATE TO ADD MORE PEOPLE AND I HAD NOT ANTICIPATED THE EXTRA COORD AND REROUTES THAT AROSE. WX AND EQUIP WERE NOT FACTORS.
