Narrative
What caused the problem today was a combination of rushing and complacency. I've been into TEB many times. Every time I fly in; we go to the same FBO. From that FBO; we always take the same taxi route to the runway. Today; we were trying to get out before the rush. While the non-flying pilot was reading the checklist; I was taxiing. I just went the way I always go. When I passed the C Taxiway; the Ground Controller said; 'you're going the wrong way;' and gave us new instructions. I continued as usual; and again was told to stop. I was now in a closed portion of the airport. This time; it was very clear that he was extremely angry. It turns out; that area of the airport was to be opened up; at that very moment. After I found myself in the 'closed' area; I noticed aircraft lining up behind us. I was not paying close attention to the taxi instructions; and did what I usually do; so we could get on our way. I've been stuck in line for quite a while in TEB; and with a long cross country; its in our best intention to save fuel. Stupid mistakes like this don't ever happen to me. I am usually on the ball. Today; I was not. What would have made things much easier is if the taxiway was marked with a cone or something so we would notice that it was closed. I was so disappointed in myself that I completely botched the departure. Instead of waiting for 4.5 DME to turn to 280 degrees; I waited until 1500 FT; then turned to 180 degrees; then started climbing to 2000 FT. It was a terrible day.
