Synopsis

Beechcraft Sundowner pilot lost control during a touch and go landing and exited the runway.

Narrative

Was performing touch and go; after landing; raised flaps; applied power; noticed was slightly left of runway center-line (approximately 1 to 1.5 feet); tried to move to runway center line; applied slight right rudder and began to veer rapidly to right; compensated by immediately applying left rudder to correct; but resultant action caused airplane to veer sharply to left; causing the aircraft to depart the runway onto grassy area along side runway; immediately reduced power to idle and applied brakes; came to a stop on the left grassy area adjoining the runway. ATC called to see if I was alright and if I needed help; requested ATC to get help to remove aircraft from grassy area; since grassy area was wet and soft. Helped arrived and the aircraft was towed back to the FBO for inspection. Prevention for future occurrences: Not to attempt a minor correction to runway center-line while under full takeoff power but continue with take-off; since aircraft was going straight down the runway. Pilot will take a checkout ride/instruction with a CFI to correct and prevent future occurrences.
