Synopsis
A small aircraft pilot was counseled for landing at 3B4 without prior authorization and for taxiing on a closed taxiway; even though these facts were allegedly not available through either NOTAM or DUATS briefing.
Narrative
After landing at 3B4; I exited the runway onto the only taxiway at the airport. The taxiway was in very bad shape; but I did see a number of available places to tie down the plane. As I was on the taxiway; the owner/operator of the airport drove up to me and motioned for me to stop the airplane. I got out of the plane and was asked what I was doing on the taxiway. I explained that I wanted to park for a few hours and planned on having lunch with friends. I was asked if I had done a briefing for 3B4 (which I had from DUATS just prior to leaving). I was told that either I didn't do a briefing or didn't really read it because if I had I would have read that the taxiway at 3B4 was closed for repair. I explained that I had done a briefing that to the best of my memory I did not see any NOTAM that indicated that the taxiway was closed. At that point; the manager of the airport came over and asked similar questions. After securing the plane; I pulled out the DUATS briefing and showed the manager where there were not any NOTAMs for 3B4. I asked if there was anything that I could have done differently since there was nothing indicating that the taxiway was closed. I was also told that 3B4 required a 48 hour advanced notice to land there. According to the DUATS briefing there was no indication of this; but was told that 'it must be in there somewhere; but a lot people are on vacation now; so the NOTAM must not have been updated.'
