ACR MLG LANDED WITHOUT TWR CLRNC.

Narrative

ARRIVED IN BOI AREA AT TIME WHEN AIR FORCE 2 WAS DEPARTING. ARPT WAS CLOSED. HELD VMC NE OF ARPT FOR APPROX 5 MINS. CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH. APCH DID NOT HAND ME OFF TO TWR. I FORGOT TO CALL TWR. LANDED W/O LNDG CLRNC. TALKED WITH TWR CHIEF ON PHONE. NO TFC CONFLICTS. I RPTED THE INCIDENT TO MY MGMNT. HOW THE PROB AROSE: THE CAPT; F/O AND APCH CTLR ALL FORGOT AT THE SAME TIME ABOUT SWITCHING TO TWR FREQ. HOW IT WAS DISCOVERED: WHEN THE F/O REQUESTED PERMISSION TO CROSS THE PARALLEL RWY. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: NONROUTINE OPS; IE; ARPT CLOSED. I WAS CONDUCTING INITIAL OPERATING EXPERIENCE WITH THE F/O. TO THIS DAY; I REMEMBER HEARING 'CLRED TO LAND;' WHEN PROBABLY WHAT I HEARD WAS 'CLRED FOR THE VISUAL.' THIS IS PROBABLY DUE TO ME HEARING WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR. FROM THE TIME THAT I WAS CLRED FOR THE VISUAL UNTIL THE TIME I ACTUALLY LANDED WAS APPROX 3 MINS. I'M A BIT SURPRISED THAT I WAS NEVER CONTACTED ON APCH FREQ PRIOR TO LNDG CONCERNING SWITCHING TO TWR FREQ SINCE THE TWR CHIEF STATED THAT THE TWR CTLRS TRIED TWICE TO CALL ME WHILE I WAS ON FINAL--FIRST ATTEMPT WAS WHILE I WAS ON A 5 MI FINAL.
