BUSY ARTCC CTLR ISSUED HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS TO MLG IN RAPID SEQUENCE AND WAS UPSET WHEN HE HAD TO REPEAT THE CLRNC. FLC WAS NOT READY FOR CLRNC AND DIDN'T HAVE CHARTS THAT SHOWED THE PUBLISHED HOLDING PATTERN.

Narrative

THE CAPT WAS FLYING; THE FIRST OFFICER WAS OFF CENTER FREQ GETTING ATIS. WE WERE SWITCHED TO ANOTHER CENTER FREQ. UPON CHECKING IN THE CTLR REPLIED WITH A VERY RAPID XMISSION OF A DETAILED HOLDING CLRNC. I DIDN'T HAVE A PEN READY; OR PAPER; NOR DID I HAVE A LIGHT TURNED ON MY CLIP BOARD. I (WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CONTROL MY TEMPER) GOT OUT A PAPER; PEN AND TURNED ON THE LIGHT. (THE FO CAME BACK ON FREQ ABOUT THIS TIME). WHEN THE CTLR WAS DONE; I TRANSMITTED TO THE EFFECT 'I'M READY TO COPY THE CLRNC NOW; WOULD YOU READ IT SLOWER THIS TIME'. THE CTLR SHOT BACK WITH 'I THOUGHT THERE WERE TWO GUYS IN THE COCKPIT' IN A VERY SNOOTY TONE. I TOLD HIM 'THAT WAS CORRECT BUT THE OTHER WAS OFF FREQ'. I DIDN'T WANT A BIG 'HUFF' ON THE AIR SO I DROPPED IT AT THAT. THE CTLR SPENT 5 MINUTES GIVING OTHER INSTRUCTIONS AND REQUIRED TWO MORE REQUESTS FROM US TO GET THE HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS. I NOTED ONE OTHER THING - IN THE FIRST CLRNC HE DID SAY 'HOLD AS PUBLISHED' AT PLANT - THERE IS NO PUBLISHED PATTERN. THE FIX CLRNC GAVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR A PATTERN. NORMAL PROCEDURE IS FOR THE CTLR TO ASK '...ADVISE WHEN READY TO COPY HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS...'
